i thought we literally did not start competing until we were down 20pts. thats a massive hole to dig yourself on the road. seemed we started to calm down and take control near the end of the half and the beginning of the second. problem is we blew just about all the chances handed to us with dropped passes and such. couldnt really buy a break for anything. these types of games happen to the best teams and i can live with that. the fact that this team literally gave up in the 4th qtr is what pisses me off. that is not tiger football. as others have said, what LSU does in the next game will determine the rest of the season. what LSU does for the rest of the season determines the success of this program for years to come. this is either a wake up call for a very good team or the start of a decline for our program. i hope these guys can leave that on crumpled in the garbage can and move on.

it felt like we were gaining control since that was two back to back offensive series.

then our defense took the field.

Those are our only two choices? Really? So no program can have a rebuilding year anymore? It's either turn it around or we're done as a program for years. Geez. Who knew?

well we didnt blitz at all and went for the containment route. that ended up letting floridas offense dictate the flow of the game. when you go against a triple option, there is a small window of lag on the decision time in the backfield. we should have sent a safety through the middle at times and busted that shite up before it even got started. our pursuit on the option was the worst ive seen in years. i really feel the tipped pass from mccray that ended up as a td really popped the balloon from under the asses of our players. it really got to them. i thought our team was much better than that.

the thuggish mentality and actions on the field mentioned by several here today has made me start to think. LSU has always been a team that didnt have that image, which Im sure most of us are proud of. It does worry me some, as does recruiting shitty people to play ball at LSU. NS always preached recruiting high quality guys... Rodney reed, kyle willams, matt mauch, matt flynn, jacob hester , ben wilkerson, marcus spears, bradie james, type guys.
The reason i posted this is b/c you mentioned "decline of program." Obv i dont think one loss puts us in "delcline" however its not good to turn blind eye to behavior that DOES NOT reflect what LSU Football stands for.

Very well put. the first time I have seen an LSU team not give their best in 8 years was against Moo U. Now the UF game, they just gave up. This game is pivital. The most important game of Miles career so far IMO. I am just looking for anything .....some kind of improvement.

Really? Where have you been? Red-shirt freshman at QB? Lost senior leadership in Flynn, Hester, Doucet. Replacing Dorsey, Highsmith, Steltz, Zenon, Jackson. Beginning to get the picture? This was talked about for months before the season. Possibly a 3 loss season wouldn't be out of the realm of occuring. Where you live dude?

well when you deal with kids of that age its easy to have players mentality destroyed and the lack of trust in your coaching staff to put you in the right place at the right time. thats what leads to internal bs in big time programs. look at miami. we took them to the woodshed in a good year for them and they havent been the same ever since. i am in no way hoping this happens but it is a wake up call for our program. the result of that is in the hands of the players and the coaching staff. we will see what this program is really made of come next week.

were deeper than ever at the d-line. have the best veteran o-line in the nation. all were replacing is most of the secondary and a qb. if you ask me, lee is pretty good besides the misques he has at times. the only real sore spot on the team is the lb's and one safety in particular. to answer your question i live in baton rouge.

Sounds like a threat from an outsider not the optimism and belief of a supporter.

Don't buy into the rebuilding year mentality. That's what NCAA fans say when their team is down. Fact is in the NCAA, every year you are rebuilding somewhere. Next year it's the offensive and defensive lines.

You could use that excuse any year in college.

Couldn't agree more. I mean you can't dig a 20-0 hole on the road. 14-3 is pushing it a lot. But again they came back to make it 20-14. The fourth quarter was rough for sure. Didn't even watch the rest of it. Their are huge problems on D and well I don't think the program is going down. Look over the past 3 years LSU has amassed lots of big wins. These types of losses happen. They suck and frankly shouldn't have been this bad but Urban Meyer has no integrity and ran up the score. Either way I understand what your saying and agree it's not LSU football the way we came out.

Just remember, LSU won a title last year and lost a lot of key players. There will be a drop off.

way to take my shite out of context. im not so sure im the one who fell off the bandwagon. all im saying is that this is the perfect opportunity to smash usc in their mouths and take it all the way back to baton rouge.

#1 quit with the whipping emoticon...you're freaking me out.
#2 replacing most of the secondary and a QB includes both your field generals...your offensive and defensive team leaders.
#3 not just a new QB..a new QB that hadn't taken a snap in a live game since high school.
#4 you act as if the season is over.....
#5 again I repeat many, many many people tried to warn some of you guys that there was a distinct possibility of losing several games this year and still having a good season. Really, you folks amaze me with your shock and awe.

i also think its safe to say that everybody puts their best show on against lsu. so i can understand the wrinkles we havent been seeing from opponents in their previous games. i can recall back to the tennessee game in 06 when they were shuffling d-linemen like mad. it looked like a volkswagon commercial.

well, the defense hasn't showed us "LSU FOOTBALL-ESQUE PLAY" all season...ya'll didn't want to talk about it and told us that we were stupid for bitching about the situation for a full week after Moo State put 24 up on the board against us...Ya'll were mad at us saying things like, "awww come on NEGATIGER!!! Can't you just be happy that we are 4-0???" AFTER LAST NIGHT, HOW DO YOU FEEL PEOPLE??? I hate to say we told you so!

Or begin a slide in the program that lasts for years....those were our only options I believe.

Why? Spot on. If, as the ostriches say, last night was a fluke then we will know saturday. If there are problems that have to be fixed, we will also know that. Not sure how you equate spot on analysis with not being a supporter. Dude was dead on. Been an LSU fan for more than 30 years, and never been as embarassed as last night. We haven't done anything to impress this season. In fact, it's been a digression.

geauxjo, your pulling this crap from left field with the whole lsu bandwagon fans. reread the origional post. its not in any way negative. just a realistic overall opinion on how losses like this have affected programs in the past. i cant count how many big name programs we've shamed and sent into the duldrums. i in no way want our program to decline, but to learn, and take it out on every opponent left on the schedule. you speak for yourself, not i. remember that.
