No sympathy wanted or needed. The coach did tell everyone that this is what you are going to do and the batter did not follow his direction. I back the coach here because it is his team.

Agree with lsutygerfan but I believe that the coach is imposing his will to have his team do what he says to instill more discipline in the players.

I usually tell my players to swing at the 3-1 if runners on base since the odds are a strike is coming but it depends on when and where and who is pitching or who we are playing and what inning or the weather or how many ball girls are wearing short skirts that day

Coach may have been 100% right, based on pitchers control, hitters strengths, hell he may have been wanting to buy a few throws to get to a weak pen,
