Does Les just let Chavis do his thing or does Les counsel Chief to stay aggressive on 3rd down?

a. les is conservative, so i don't see why he'd tell a coach to be aggressive

b. when did les ever tell bo p to be aggressive on 3rd down?

Why don't we wait for the guy to call his first LSU game before we start giving 'advice?'

If Chavis didn't bring this baggage with him from Tenn then perhaps we could.

But what is gained by waiting?

Not a problem with Copper handling the d-backs. Trust me guys, Miles hit every button on these hires.

This is going to be fun to watch. First LSU taking back what belongs to us, and LSU's pass secondary over the next few years.

How long do we have to deal with fans like you? Unfortunately, probably forever.

Les is conservative? How did he get the reputation as the "mad hatter"?

He's a gambler...going for it on fourth down, lots of special teams trickery, the pass at the end of the Auburn game in 2007.

Maybe Fulmer had something to do with Chavis's philosophy, and Miles will cut him loose. I dunno. Guess we find out in less than two weeks.

Kind of wondering where this came from, too. Unless I missed the sarcasm.

a horrible reputation

our gameplans and playcalls are conservative the vast majority of the time

we sprinkle in a trick play here or there which are just well-calculated (and may not be les's anyway)

and then people see him going for 4th downs against UF and jizz themselves, but we HAD to go for those

quote:

He's a gambler

no. he's not

when has he "gambled"

?

quote:

going for it on fourth down

against UF? you mean when we were down and there wasn't any time left? he had to go for it on 4th

quote:

lots of special teams trickery,

4-5 fakes, which les may or may not have called (he definitely didn't call the one against ASU. that was jackson)?

quote:

the pass at the end of the Auburn game in 2007

which was followed by him not going for 2

he also hires conservative coaches. bo p was a "rush 4 and drop 7" guy. chavis is also. crowton isn't aggressive (very horizontal offense which has been made even more conservative with all the i-form up the guy shite we run)

look at our general gameplan. very conservative. lots of rushing up the middle out of the i. horizontal passing. our D doesn't blitz much anymore and we play soft zone coverage.

Has anyone every noticed that every defensive coordinater in the country gets bashed about their 3rd down calls (accept saban)? It's not the coordinaters 9 times out of 10. Third down is generally the most important down for offenses too as it determines the difference bwt continuing the drive and punting. I would think that any defensive coordinater knows more about 3rd down defense than anyone on this board.

Honestly I don't think Les cares at all about cute nicknames given to coaches by trailer-dwellers with NetZero accounts...

Every time we've been aggressive, it's been the coordinator's call. When we've been too conservative, it was Les.

So Chavis should be fine according to Rant wisdom.

i hope the newest hires are better than the button les pushed to hire the guys they're taking over for.
