Of the 325, 55% are brass, 9% percussion, 21% woodwind, and 14% non-instrument auxiliary.

Looking forward to seeing them on the field this year.

Way too many clarinets/saxophones

Gotta get those brass numbers back up to the glory days of tiger band

30 is a nice number of tubas though hopefully they can all play and half aren’t just place holders like usual

73% of the horns are brass, which is a good number. Need a little woodwind to soften the sound. I think it's a good balance.

Does anyone remember what the instrument make up used to be?

How many members did the band have 15 years ago?

Sax's are fine especially if they are tenors. We marched with twice that many and helped carry some of the brass because we were low on trombones in my day.

But we also had more than 325 when I was marching in the early eighties.

My one regret from college is not actually joining GBFTL. They offered a scholly if I would major in music, but didn't want to so I walked away. Should have just played for the fun of it.

My daughter made the Colorguard squad. Her first time on the field is going to blow her away.

What's crazy is it will be the first time on the field/walking down the hill for all 2nd year members as well.

Everyone in Tiger band gets a monthly stipend. It used to be $160/mo back in the early 00’s. I believe it might be around $250, now. But it’s only for the 4 months of the fall semester.

He was referring to an additional scholarship for being a music major.

It will net against your fee bill, so your kid won't actually get the money.

Unless of course you turn around and give it to them, but F that.

pretty sure they got the $ back then, doesn't sound like much now, iirc it was $100-$125/mo., but that was good drinking money back then(70s)
