Mainieri puts 3 pitchers on the mound at the same time during batting practice. They throw a pitch simultaneously (for you Bama grads that means "at the same time") and the batter has to choose the best pitch to hit.

I think he is referring to 3-man baseball. Our players play it in the downtime. Here's what I could find on it:
