24-23 But Who Did He Beat?

There are those who see Coach Miles' 25-23 fourth quarter record and say, “Les’ teams don’t quit.” On the other hand, there are those who look at the same record and say, “Les’ teams play down to their competition; we should never have been down in those games in the first place.”
Lets see if the nega-Tigers are right. Below is a list of Les’ fourth quarter comebacks year by year. Included are the opponents rank and LSU’s rank at the time of the game.
2005
#15 Arizona State #5LSU
#11 Florida #8 LSU
#15 Auburn #7 LSU
#3 Alabama #5 LSU
2006
#8 Tenn #13 LSU
UR Ole Miss #9 LSU
2007
#9 Florida #1LSU
#17 Auburn #4LSU
#17 Alabama #3LSU
#14 Tennessee #7LSU
2008
UR Troy #19LSU
#10 Auburn #6 LSU
UR South Carolina #13 LSU (was actually tied going into the Fourth Quarter)***
2009
#14 Georgia #4LSU
UR Arkansas #17LSU
2010
UR Tennessee #12 LSU
#14 Florida #12 LSU
#5 Alabama #12 LSU
UR Ole Miss #5 LSU
2011
#2 Alabama #1LSU
2012
UR Ole Miss #8LSU
2013
UR Arkansas #15 LSU
2014
#14 Wisconsin #13 LSU
UR Florida UR LSU
#3 Ole Miss #24 LSU
Notes:
16 of the 24 were against ranked opponents.
15 of the 24 were against “Big Six” SEC opponents.
1 of the 24 was against a non power 5 team.
8 of the 24 were against unranked opponents. BUT only 7 times did a ranked LSU team have to come back against an unranked opponent (in the 2014 UF game both LSU and UF were unranked). 3 of the instances where LSU had to come back against an unranked opponent were in 2008 and 2009 which were years where LSU arguably shouldn't have been ranked either. 5 of the instances where LSU had to come back against an un ranked opponent were against Ole Miss and Arkansas who both seem to always play LSU tough no matter what the rankings say.
11 of the 24 were away from Tiger Stadium (Thanks. Mastr Shake).
4 of the 24 were actually upset victories against top 10 teams.
Another nega-Tiger myth busted?

8-15 record total.
5 of the 8 were against ranked opponents.
4 of the 8 were against “Big Six” SEC opponents.
0 of the 8 were against a non Power 5 team but there is one loss (ULM 2007) against a non Power 5 team.
3 of the 8 were against unranked teams. 2 of those three were against Ole Miss and Arkansas.
0 were an upset victory over a top ten team but 1 was an upset over a top 16 team.
EDT: Edited to change record from 25-23 to 24-23. The post always reflected that LSU and SC were tied going into the fourth quarter in the 2010 game referenced above. That was the 25th game. Also edited to note away record.
EDT: Edited to add Saban's record.

O.K., that's it. How downright sneaky of you to use facts. Is there no peace for the ignorant and prejudiced among us? .............great job!!!

Not sure if your numbers are correct.
LSU's record is 24-23 in "come from behind in fourth quarter wins," not Les Miles' record.
I'm curious to see what part of this is Les Miles' record, but it can't be 25-23 since that's more than LSU's overall total in come from behind fourth quarter wins.

Its LSU's record from '05 to last night which seems to cover Miles' tenure.
We were tied with SC going into the Fourth in 2010 so added that one as well. If anything, it supports the nega-tiger argument since they were unranked at the time.

I was mistaken in thinking that this was LSU's record, not Les Miles' record. It is, indeed, Les Miles' record.
Curiosity got the best of me so I took your work and went a step further. I looked at the box scores to check.
The first score is LSU-Opp score start of 4th quarter, followed by the go-ahead score and time remaining in the game when the go-ahead score happened. If we were leading going into the 4th quarter, I listed the score (and time) when the opponent took the lead.
2005
#15 Arizona State #5 LSU, 7-17 => 35-31, 1:13 remaining.
#11 Florida #8 LSU, 14-17 => 21-17, 12:35 remaining
#15 Auburn #7 LSU, 14-10 => 17-17, 1:40 remaining, won in OT, 20-17
#3 Alabama #5 LSU, 10-10 (tied throughout 4th), 16-13 OT. (Not a come from behind 4th quarter win).
2006
#8 Tenn #13 LSU, 21-24 => 28-24, 0:09 remaining.
UR Ole Miss #9 LSU, 7-20 => 20-20, 0:14 remaining (PAT blocked), 23-20 OT.
2007
#9 Florida #1 LSU, 14-24 => 28-24, 1:09 remaining.
#17 Auburn #4 LSU, 13-17 => 30-24, 0:01 remaining.
#17 Alabama #3 LSU, 24-27 => 41-34, 1:26 remaining.
#14 Tennessee #7 LSU, 13-14 => 21-14, 9:54 remaining.
2008
UR Troy #19 LSU, 3-31 => 33-31, 4:50 remaining (40-31 final).
#10 Auburn #6 LSU, 17-14 => 20-21 (6:40) => 26-21, 1:03 remaining.
UR South Carolina #13 LSU, 17-17 => 24-17, 4:16 remaining. (Not a come from behind 4th quarter win.)
2009
#14 Georgia #4 LSU, 6-0 => 6-7 (14:45) => 20-13, 0:46 remaining.
UR Arkansas #17 LSU, 24-20 => 27-30 (11:34) => 30-30 (1:08) => 33-30 OT.
2010
UR Tennessee #12 LSU, 7-7 => 10-14 (11:34) => 16-14, 0:00 remaining.
#14 Florida #12 LSU, 20-14 => 26-29 (3:21) => 33-29, 0:06 remaining.
#5 Alabama #12 LSU, 10-14 => 21-14, 8:13 remaining (24-21 final).
UR Ole Miss #5 LSU, 23-24 => 43-36, 0:44 remaining.
2011
#2 Alabama #1 LSU, 3-6 => 6-6 (14:13), 9-6 OT.
2012
UR Ole Miss #8 LSU, 20-21 => 41-35, 0:15 remaining.
2013
UR Arkansas #15 LSU, 21-27 => 31-27, 1:15 remaining.
2014
#14 Wisconsin #13 LSU, 13-21 => 28-24, 9:41 remaining.
UR Florida UR LSU, 17-20 => 30-27, 0:03 remaining.
#3 Ole Miss #24 LSU, 3-7 => 10-7, 5:07 remaining.
That accounts for 23 fourth quarter come from behind wins. It's really amazing to note that 16 of those 23 wins came with less than 2 minutes on the clock (one tied in regulation, won in OT).
ESPN has us at 24-23. Not sure where the 24th one is according to them. Another website has it at 23 wins.
