Herb actually replied to my email with a very narrow minded response enclosed below. He did not address the Steve Shaw / Gump conflict of interest. He would not address Mack Wilson hit.

Thanks for the email.

1. No, Steve Shaw does not appear on radio shows during the season. It’s simply impossible for him to do an interview everytime one fan base or another disagrees with a call. I explained that to Matt and he understood. Steve does frequent appearances and media interviews in the offseason to explain rules, particularly targeting, and also participates with large groups of media on teleconferences three times during the football season.

2. I’m not sure what opinion you are looking for from me that you can’t find. I sent a statement to Michael Bonnette immediately following the game to distribute to the media explaining why targeting was called. I’ve talked to multiple media outlets and have been quoted saying there is no appeal process. That’s a fact. Targeting is an NCAA rule and the SEC has no power over the rule to change the suspension.

Have a nice day.

They are trying to pass the buck to the NCAA. frick that. Even if they can’t overturn it, they need to feel the heat for taking LSU’s best player off the field for our biggest game.

WOW Herb sold out! Toting the company line and unsolicited FU.

Thanks everyone for all you've done in regards to calling the SEC in these very troubling times.

Yeah, his hands are tied. But he is contributing to the bias of the SEC towards Bama and for that reason he should lose his LSU card and be considered TIGER BAIT!!!! HERB GFY!

This is from the NCAA rule book on Targeting. It allows for a review and overturning of a suspension. The SEC is full of it.

If a player is disqualified in the second half, the conference has the option to consult the national coordinator of football officials who would then facilitate a video review.
Based on the review, if and only if the national coordinator concludes that the player should not have been disqualified, the conference may vacate the suspension. If the national coordinator supports the disqualification, the suspension for the next game will remain.
