If things stay as they are projected and none of the incoming recruits sign with a pro club is the incoming team the most talented and highly ranked LSU team at this point.

I’m not saying at season’s end, I’m talking about on paper at the end of a July. I know last year’s 1 and 1 class was special but damn, Johnson seems to be out doing himself.

All college teams are basically the most talented they've ever been. It's a result of the 5 round covid draft pushing so many HS guys to college and then only going to a 20 round draft afterwards. All those HS guys that only went to college because of the covid draft are now getting picked out of college and making it harder for the HS guys and the cycle continues. It was good for college baseball

Most talented seems unlikely since this last team had the first two picks and a third first rounder. The replacements likely don’t have 3 first rounders among them.

We should be really good. I expect our pitching to be better. Sure, we don’t have a guy like Skenes, who was nearly unbeatable, but overall, barring injuries of course, our pitching should be improved. Our lineup may drop off a tad, but we should still host a super regional and hopefully get to Omaha again.

I am going to say we will have a very nice pitching staff especially Leftys

I thought ranking wise we had one guy higher than Crews and one equal, plus another top 20 or so. I don’t follow recruiting very much but I was thinking I read that in some thread here.

Ah you’re meaning average recruiting rankings of the current roster. Yeah this is probably the best because of that 2020 Covid draft. Even if you don’t include Shores who won’t pitch next season, my guess is that this is still the best.

I wouldn’t say most talented though, last years team is pretty tough to beat.

It sucks that Shores and Noot both picked up injuries (or came in with them). It looks like they both won't be able to offer much next season.

A lot of it boils down to the pitching. Who is injured and or back from injury. The kid from Alabama coming or not. The freshmen that didn’t pitch much able to contribute on the weekends etc…

Yeah, recruiting rankings is a pretty bad way to judge the talent of a team. We’ve probably got close to 50 guys on the roster right now, and the reality is that more than half of them won’t actually contribute to the ‘24 team.
