Are we currently undefeated this year with this setup?

Do we run the table and win the natty?

Yes undefeated and maybe.

ETA:

That defense is criminally underrated by our fans. Absolutely stacked with talent. They had to deal with Burrow and crew scoring quickly every game and we often had backups in at the end of games because of blowouts, but when we needed them, they delivered.

I'd argue we are undefeated with just that secondary. Stingley, Delpit, Fulton are all starting in the NFL.

not even debatable considering how favorable the schedule is now.

That 19’ defense isn’t anywhere near the 23’ one.

I know 19’ might not have been elite, but they’re on another planet compared to this years.

There are players on the ‘19 defense that we gave shite to, that we would absolutely love to have on this 2023 team.

We still lose to FSU just by smaller margin, IMO. JD5 hadn't started airing it out yet and our offense was pretty one dimensional.

Well said. Once our players got healthy by the end of the season they were just as good as any other defense in the country.

Stingley and Fulton would’ve done a much better job on Wilson and Coleman

Go back and look at how loaded that defense was. We had Jay Ward and Cordale Flott coming off the bench.

How do people not remember how bad the defense was against Texas, vandy and Ole Miss...they didn't start playing well until after the bama game.

Vanderbilt scored 38 points in 2019. The defense was awful that day.

2019 defense is better. We only allowed Ole Miss 614 yards that year.

Chaisson, Jacob Phillips, Rashad Lawrence, Patrick Queen, Fulton, Stingley, Fehoko, Delpit. All still on NFL rosters. Not even including Flott, Damone Clark or Jay Ward because they weren't starters.

That's a lot of NFL talent on all levels of the defense

I think the only player from the starting 11 that didn't get drafted was Divinity and he was a solid college player

Guys like Stephens and Vincent would add value to this year's roster as well

We had other solid players like Shelvin and Ika that would contribute. Clark and Baskerville were reserve LBs at the time

Andre Anthony would later come on as a solid contributor

People seriously underestimate the depth and talent that was on that roster. If you only replaced the 2023 secondary with the 2019 secondary this team sleep walks to the national championship

Agreed. We still gave up 38 points in Week 2 to an 8-5 Texas team.

I don't know. FSU made their money with their big WRs in that game

I don't think people appreciate how much of an eraser Stingley was that year on #1 WRs

This offense with the 2019 LSU defense goes undefeated and wins this year's national championship.

Let’s do 2011 defense with 2023 offense. That team might take down 2019!!!

They actually played Ole Miss after Bama that year. And that was the game it looked like we couldn't stop anybody.

Nor did they play particularly well in the Bama game, admittedly, they were a stacked offense too.

We also led Mississippi like 38-3 at one point during that game and just flat out got lazy guarding Plumlee's running. Burrow actually threw two picks in that game as well. We won our worst game of the year by 21 points in a road rivalry game.
