2015 Secondary

Take a look at who we return at DB next season:
Corey Thompson (Senior)
Jalen Mills (Senior/maybe)
Jalen Collins (Senior/maybe)
Tre White (Junior)
Rashard Robinson (Junior/maybe)
Ricky Jefferson (Junior)
Dwayne Thomas (Junior)
John Battle (Soph)
Russell Gage (Soph)
Ed Paris (Soph)
Jamal Adams (Soph)
Devin Voorhies (Soph)
Now take that unit, and add in:
Kevin Tolliver II
Xavier Lewis
Iman Marshall (possibly)
Jeremy Cutrer
Now take this into consideration:
-LSU finished 4th in the nation in Opp. Passing YPG
-LSU finished 6th in the nation in Opp. yards per completion
I personally believe next years secondary could rival the 2011 secondary, and possibly be better. I'm aware that that secondary was unreal, but how can you not be ecstatic when looking at the above information. 2015 is going to be a good year fellas.

seems like secondary has not been a real weakness for LSU for sometime

I remember watching the Oregon game in 2011 and thinking, "I don't know if I've ever seen college players play pass defense at this level before." It's like they were moving at a blur. I was sober.

I remember sitting in my dorm watching it. I could tell that game 2011 would be special. And I will probably never get over the way it ended

We're going to need someone to step up at corner next year if Collins leaves early. If Tolliver is as good as the hype then the secondary will have the perfect amount of veteran leadership to groom that kid. White, Adams and Jefferson w/ Thomas back at Nickel will be fun to watch.

Edit in Donte Jackson instead of Marshall then you'll have it

In what world do you think we are getting Iman Marshall?

Hope Rashard Robinson can keep his nose clean or Collins comes back
If not then Kevin Toliver will be the #2 corner
Either way I think we're good tho

I think if they can generate some pass rush from the d-line the 2015 defense will be better than the 2011 one on a talent basis alone. There's no real playmakers (yet) like the Mathieu so we'll have to see.
The 2011 D had very weak LBs but it was covered up basically single handedly by Brockers. The 2015 D will have some excellent backers.

If Robinson don't come back and Collins leaves early I think eddy Paris is gonna be starting opposite white

CB-White
FS-Adams
SS-Jefferson
CB-Toliver/Cutrer
NB-Thomas/Paris
Filthy. Toliver is little Peterson, Cutrer will look a lot like Simon, White is Claibornes cousin, Jefferson is a Brandon Taylor clone, and Adams might be a more athletic Reid. Then you have a guy like Thomas who can blitz and make plays at nickle.
This group will look a lot like 2011, without a guy who can make plays quite like Mathieu

I think either Thomas or Adams could make some big plays, not quite like Mathieu, but similar.

We still need to find a ball hawk. Claiborne is the last one we had that fit that description. We have still yet to find playmakers, but I'm hopeful with the incoming group.
Toliver will be a lockdown corner, and hopefully Cutrer is the ballhawk type. Donte Jackson (fingers crossed) played WR and DB so maybe he can be that playmaker with his blazing speed and elusiveness. I also want him as punt returner. I love Tre White as a CB, but get him the hell away from the return game, same for Fournette.
I'd like Chark at KR or hopeful if we get him, Derrick Dillon. Quinn or Jackson could be great returners as well.
