I just watched on SEC Rewind the SEC Championship game from 2011 vs Georgia. LSU dominated that game and were undefeated going into the BCS Championship game. WTH happened? Why did that team not win a National Championship that year? Getting skunked by Bammer was ridiculous.

Offense regressed as season went on. That team needed a QB, Offensive coordinator etc

Bama was really really good that year too.

Bama was the better team in the 9-6 games but just missed field goals.

LSU shouldn’t have had to play them again and got screwed. Any other team in the country that year and LSU is a national champion.

We could not throw the ball. We had like 50 yards passing in the SEC championship game. Still, that D was awesome.

It’s amazing how many people don’t remember this, and all the swirling rumors of his gambling habits at Harrah’s, the (second) 2AM bar fight, and OL telling stubborn Les that JJ shouldn’t play.

Les should’ve never let him play in that game. Lee wasn’t great, but it was with Lee under center that the team won their first 7 games.

Bama and LSU were both ridiculously loaded with NFL talent that year. LSU just got flat out coached in the championship game.

Having to play the bumps againnwas a huge disadvantage.

Sadly, toward the end of the season, there was a serious discussion on The Sports Reporters about LSU having one of the greatest seasons in college football history, based upon the team’s they had beaten.

JJ should never have regained his starting role at QB after the disciplinary action from the summer. Jarret Lee had been playing plenty good enough to lead that team to the championship. I still think there is something to the story of issues between the team and coaches prior to that game that we’ll one day hear about. They just didn’t look like the same team that had played all season.

30 yards to be exact. I would think that's a record low that will never be matched. Jefferson's last two games were incredibly terrible. 30 and 53 yards, how the hell does that happen?

LSU did not dominate that game. If it wasn't for TM7 on special teams & the defense, it would've been a lot worse. We were just lucky UGA got worn out in the 2nd half.

The offense in the 1st half was one of the worst performances I've ever seen...until a week later and the offense did what they did in the NC.

JJ had too much Destrehan in him. His last two performances were abysmal, and overshadow what was otherwise a very good career at LSU. I am no fan of his, but he won a lot of big games for us. And he was 2-2 against Nick Saban and Alabama, including our last two wins against them.

The offensive game planning and in-game coaching on 1/9 were historically bad. There should have been some packages for Jarrett Lee, especially by the second half when it was clear that what was being tried was not working. I'm not sure any team ever got embarrassed as bad in a national championship game; maybe Florida in 1995 when they got boat raced by Nebraska, but at least they actually scored some points that night.

It was the best regular season in history. They beat the teams that won the national championship, the rose bowl and the orange bowl in that season.
