1st Time at LSU Tailgate

I'm flying in from across the country to attend my very first LSU tailgate/game this Saturday. I have a few questions.
1. For a 2:30 kickoff, do we need to get down there before 10 am?
2. Would we (2 of us) be better received by the LSU faithful if we wear LSU apparel or if we went in non-SEC college apparel? We weren't sure if wearing the latter would create conversation with the locals and allow us to explain this is a bucket list trip for us.
3. Do you advise bringing our own alcohol or are most tailgates friendly to out of towners if you throw them some cash for their generosity of hosting the tailgate?
Thanks for all your help in advance as we're incredible pumped for Saturday!

Where are you from? Where your teams shirt, say where you're from, you'll get more drinks and food than you can imagine.

1. Yes earlier the better.
2. As long as it is not Notre Dame, this would be a great idea to get invited over to a tailgate.
3. I recommed bring a local beer or liquor that we might not see around here. Offer it to the tailgate and you are golden for whaever.

Minnesota, so we could definitely wear Gopher gear. We just weren't sure if that would be frowned upon or a conversation starter. Thanks for the feedback so far.

If a group of people start pointing at you and yelling "Tiger bait, Tiger bait", turn and point at the people behind you and do the same thing. You will be rewarded with copious amounts of Cajun food and grain alcohol.
And nobody will take your money.
And nobody will take your money.

Advice:
1. I'd get to campus as early as possible. For a 2:30pm game, I'd suggest as early as 8am, but certainly before 10am. This will allow you to wander around campus, see a few tailgates, Mike the Tiger, the band marching down the hill, and get inside the stadium early enough to experience all the pregame festivities.
2. Wear an outfit to denote you're from out of town (just not Auburn apparel). Whether it's a college or pro team, LSU fans love when football fans from around the country travel just to experience an LSU game day.
3. It's a veteran move to BYOB. LSU fans will certainly feed you if you're polite, introduce yourself and strike up a conversation, but generosity only extends so far. Don't be a mooch and bring your own booze.

Do you call it Duck, Duck, Goose or Duck, Duck, Grey Duck?

Definitely Duck Duck Grey Duck when you're a MN native

If we're just planning to take an Uber/Lyft from the hotel, where is a good place to have them drop us off to get started?

Depends on how early you get down there and which direction you’re coming from

Duck duck grey duck is just a MN thing. It's of Scandinavian origin. I have heard pretty much every other state says duck duck goose.

I'll have some Badger fans from Madison with me Saturday. We can compare SEC-Big 10 hate levels.

Most MN fans can't stand Holtz.

We're coming from the east probably sometime between 8 and 9.

Hope y'all have a great visit. Only wish it were a night game, you'd get the full experience!

because it is a day game, tailgating will be somewhat scaled back, but still pretty good. As far as the Uber, just have them drop you at the parade grounds, that way you can stay oriented by looking for the clock tower. fair warning, Uber will be a good way in, but traffic will be gridlock when leaving and if you can get an Uber, there will be some serious surge pricing. There are some hotels that have shuttles, so look into that if you can. logistics to and from the game will be your biggest hassle of the day. You may want to try to get picked up at walkons or something like that a little ways away from the stadium.
you will want to get to campus as early as you can manage, as the team comes down the hill a couple of hours before kickoff and you will need time to cruise the tailgates, etc.
ETA: I wouldn't bother trying to carry around a full ice chest of beer or anything like that, but if yall like wiskey, you may want to pop a flask in your pocket to have a drink while you walk around. with the game being early, there will only really be an hour or so to tailgate.

Sounds like our best bet after the game may be to walk to a bar, hang out for a while, and let the crowd and surge pricing die down.
