That is LSU's redzone defense statistics. They've only stopped a team once all season in the redzone and so this is a bit concerning.

Bama has had 30 attempts in 8 games. So this is a serious issue for LSU in that game and not sure whether it hinges on coaching or players just making mistakes. Special teams hasn't be responsible for every redzone attempt.

Ehh I'm not too worried about it. I'm curious as to how many of those 17 attempts came at the end of games with some of the 2nd stringers in.

The D holds up really well for the most part. Blown coverages are what's killing them. The DB's are good for anywhere from 1-5 blown coverages a game. And the problem is that a lot of them go for TD's. If they can get that straightened out this D will be legit.

What is Bama's efficiency in the redzone. I don't think it's that awesome.

Enjoy the win. Fans like you worry about the next opponent 5 minutes after we win a game.

It's not good, but a lot of the late Tds may be garbage Tds.. I would hope.

Also how does 17 attempts all season compare to other teams? Forget the percentage of 14 tds to attempts.. Real curious to see this.

That percentage is ridiculous with our talent. Steele has done a decent job overall, but this stat sucks.

Bama gives up 46% TDs to LSU's 82%. That's a huge difference buddy.

This deep into the season and still blowing coverage assignments is worrisome heading into November. Jefferson had a rough game and wouldn't be shocked to see him benched. I saw Jackson and Thompson both play in his place in second half. We need to make opposing teams earn it much harder than some of those plays.

Only 17 trips allowed ... Not too bad.

I think we saw why Ed Paris has not played much this year.

Bama had the same amount in 1 less game. Last week, LSU was ranked 17th in per game attempts as of last week.

In the end, I think its disappointing that you can't have faith in the defense stopping the opposing team once it the redzone.

Yea, but how often do other teams even get to the redzone?

Let me get this straight. You're bitching because LSU has allowed opponents fewer trips to the red zone and the same number of red zone TDs compared to Bama? Bc according to your %s, Bama has allowed TDs on 14/30 atts, while LSU has only allowed 17 atts, but 14 TDs in those atts. Sounds to me like LSU has a much better defense between the 20s than Bama if we've allowed half as many attempts in the red zone as they have

Not at all. You are quoting Bama's redzone offensive stats that I mentioned earlier. They get there alot in their games. Nearly 4 times a game in fact.

Their defense is significantly better than ours in that department.

In 7 games prior to today they allowed 15 redzone attempts. Same as LSU had in 6 games.

After today, Bama has given up 18 attemps with only 9 TDs (for 50%), so they are doing significantly better while giving up even less attempts/game.

I meant what is Bama's offensive efficiency in the redzone. I don't see why comparing our defenses would matter.

Our defense just isnt that good, that's really all there is to it. It's good enough to get the job done but it's not a typical elite LSU defense. We give up 20-28-ish points every game

We just lack some quality depth that we're rebuilding right now through recruiting with Coach O and Coach Steele being major upgrades recruiting wise. You can only be as good as your players and your players.

We've only bee starting 1 senior this year on defense consistently (Debo) so that's good news for the future. We are about to sign our best defensive class ever, I'm sure of it.

Take out the two return TDs, and the defense allows betwen 17-24 points each game. The blown coverages are the reason it is even that high but it just does not seem like they are going to be fixed.

So odds are we'll be in their red zone more than they'll be in ours? I like our chances.
