Austin Deculus is on campus and we've got 3 more committed.
Will we take a 5th OL in this class?
How are we looking in terms of depth at OL?

Unless Isaiah Wilson falls out of the sky, no.

May get the OT transfer from Clemson - Jake Fruh whatever his name is. Army AA as senior, played some as true freshman and started half of this years games. Listed LSU, UM, UF as possible transfer destinations.

Fruhmorgen. Where have you heard/read LSU as a potential landing spot?

And why is he transferring if he was playing and starting as a fresh and soph for the national champion.

Im friends with his father. They have met the coaches and seemed to really enjoy it. The father does a lot of wor in Baton Rouge and is close with big LSU donors. LSU wants him. He does not like his position coach.

“We’re not into the re-recruitment,” Mr. Fruhmorgen said. “What happened was last week I was told that over 20 schools called the head coach at the high school. He called me and I was like, ‘listen, we don’t reopen this recruitment and do it like a high school deal. We want to try to keep it on the lowdown, pick a few schools, and take a look.”
Michigan is one of the few. Joining the Wolverines on the list currently are LSU and Florida. The only schools Clemson restricted the 6-5, 290-pounder from transferring to are Florida State and South Carolina.
“He needs to get redshirted to get a little stronger,” said Mr. Fruhmorgen. “The way to get that done is he is going to have to transfer. That’s how he looked at it in order for him to take his game to the next level. He had torn his labrum in high school, so he never really had a chance to just have a really good year of weight lifting.”
Michigan popped up as a possible landing spot almost immediately based on Fruhmorgen’s prior experience with the Maize & Blue and the obvious need at offensive tackle.
“We were looking around and Coach Drevno has got one of the better reputations as far as offensive line coaches… along with the gentleman at LSU as well,” Mr. Fruhmorgen stated. “His name is Jeff Grimes. He is looking for that type of coaching scenario… to get a real good position coach. That is kind of important to him.”
“Last night Coach (Drevno) called and Jake thought it was a reporter, so he let it go to voice mail. He didn’t get (the message) until late and it was Coach Drevno. I don’t think they’ve talked yet. Coach Harbaugh talked Saturday night with his position coach just saying there is a need for tackles. He’s excited.”
“LSU has been very aggressive. Coach O called last night and talked to Jake and the position coach and coordinators are coming at him really hard,” Mr. Fruhmorgen reported. “They’re in kind of the same situation. They need a left tackle. Karl Malone’s son is the tackle now. He has got one more year left. (Jake can) get a redshirt, and good strong year (training) will put him in a strong position to compete at LSU. And they ranked #1 in college last year as a unit. So that’s kind of intriguing, but he has never been there."
The Gators are also in the mix, but their chances were dealt a clear blow last weekend.
“Florida just lost their position coach Saturday to Louisville,” said Mr. Fruhmorgen. “He was full blown on board with everything, but the transition there… they don’t have a guy right now that’s there. Coach Rump who recruited Jake to Alabama is in charge now. So he is going try to figure out where they’re at as far as position wise.”

looks like LSU is in good position....

Hope so... We could use one specifically a big 6'7" 315 pound LT that can move and is being over looked. I think LSU hits this area hardest next year hitting all stops JC, HS, transferes anything we can find and get. Along with the LBr and RB areas. 1 guard and 3 tackles would be sufficient. Every year after 3 OTs and 2 Gs would be ideal. At least 1 QB and RB also. At least 5 along the DL 4 or 5 LBs then fill the rest with needs. Get em O

So how does a transfer work in the scholarship #'s?
Posted on 1/20/17 at 9:50 am to LSUFord
Good deal, seems like LSU has a lot of things in their favor. Do they know Tommy Moffitt is one of the best strength coaches around?

Should only be counted towards the 85 limit I think.

I'm pretty sure that's the rule. I can't see why it would count against the 25 per year limitation. This would be great.

Means someone else will have to be processed to get to the 85 scholarships... we already have to do some of that to get all of the kids we are recruiting.

Well Valentine getting dismissed helps with that

Something doesn't seem quite right in this whole thing imo. He plays/starts as true frosh and soph for the national champs but then decides to transfer because he doesn't like his position coach? Also dad says the only way he can get physically stronger is by sitting out and redshirting at another school? Wasn't he strong enough to play significantly for Clemson?
That is bizarre.
ps - unless he lost his starting position and is pissed off, then I guess it makes sense.
