Will we get any big uglies in the portal?

That’s what I want the most outside of CB’s. We need 2 more DT’s badly.
The lines are the core of any championship team. We’ve got to get some difference makers on the DL or this team is headed nowhere next season.

Most important 2 are Wingo and Smith. We do have 1 JUCO DL and could be in for another. I wouldn’t expect a huge splash in the portal

Waiting on Wingo and Smith decisions. Well we are waiting I'm sure the staff already knows. I was hoping for Nolen or other DL from Aggies to visit. Guess we are in wait and see stage but looks like things may be changing with McKinley see how his visit goes next month.

Wingo is a good DT, but Maason Smith is absolutely horrible. We need more playmakers at that position. Not just warm bodies. Wingo is the only playmaker we have currently.

We need more playmakers on our DL. What we have currently will never be adequate in the SEC. We’ll get eaten alive again next year.

I agree Carbon.
Maason progressively got better as the year played out. He's still getting back to 100%. His effort was good and that, along with his talent will "show out" next year.

Those guys from what I see don't know very much about football. Yes Smith is still not 100% but throw that into a weak secondary which allows opposing QB's to release the football quickly that makes DT's look like they are not getting to the QB fast enough. In spite of this I saw him getting progressively better.
I don't think I will miss my guess that he will be a force next year.

Lester, what has Smith ever done to make you think he’s a good college defensive lineman?

I'll give Smith the benefit of the doubt. I noticed with Savion Jones how stiff and unathletic he and Smith looked. I'm hoping the body shapers under Kelly rework these young men. I did notice they played a lot harder down the stretch which just a good aggressiveness goes a long way in being better.

You have a football IQ of about seven if you really believe that. Maason Smith is a good defensive lineman. He has not been great, which is what everyone convinced themselves he was going to be. That has led to disappointment, but he is still a good SEC defensive lineman who will be drafted.

Yo Einstein is it just me that noticed our D line coach was ill and we had to bring in an analyst and then an 82 year old Jenkins halfway through the year? I think that may have something to do with it.

Stop the star-gazing.
Smith was flat out awful this year regardless of the fact that he was a 5-star recruit. As of now, he would be a complete waste of a draft pick by any NFL team.
Hopefully he will do a 180 and break out next year, but he’s nowhere close to where he needs to be right now.
