Special teams was pretty solid last year , we didn't give up many yards In the return game which is a credit to Helton but I've heard that wing has a ridiculous leg

Wing may contribute this year, the others would have redshirted anyway.

Wing

Go to the :36 mark. Punts it from the back of his endzone, and hits on the other 40. That's a 70 yard punt right there

1:15 mark: 10 yard line to the 25 = 65 yarder
1:44 mark: 15 yard line to at least other 20 = 65

It was ... we were at or near the top of the SEC in net punting.

I think Wing might wind up starting this year. But even if he doesn't, he is one rolled knee away from the job anyway. It would have taken about 7-8 OLmen going down for Porter to have played this year. OL is clearly the position to greyshirt, as they are almost always not ready to see the field as true FR and have no versatility whatsover(can't play special teams).

I agree - we could get by without Wing this year. He went to Parkview ($$$) and has good grades (TOPS). I'm sure his parents could afford one semester. Not sure if he has LA residency established for TOPS. OL needs are much greater.

Do yaw understand the punting aspect of the game? Distance is not everything, point the nose down(The Ball)a little and lower your drop. This will give you distance without much hangtime = big returns.Ive watched about 20 kids at national camps that can achieve those distances.BTW we have one in la.2011 recruit. Also when figureing distane dont count the roll. Helton=no return.Thought he was already asked to Greyshirt anyway .

Well Porter went to Shaw($$$), and has LA residency established. Isn't Fordham coming in as a walk on? Porter could do this if he was truly dedicated to the program.

He went to Parkview for a year but he is Australian. I know he is a punter but it is kind of hard to imagine him grey shirting. Not to mention, there are punters and then there is Wing. Kid has an absurd leg.

As many have said Wing is expected to push for the job and our punter in the 2011 class is a JC guy so he will only have 2 years. Wing will have 4.

Does anyone know if Wing can also kick-off or is he a punting specialist only.=?

and now Wing has to return to Australia for visa issues? Come on! You miss practice due to not having you paperwork together? It's no wonder Miles likes him.....

It looks more and more that Porter was screwed....

You must not realize how difficult it is to get your paperwork together when trying to go between countries that used to be under the British Crown. They like to make it harder on each other than anyone else. If he were Jose Suarez from Guatemala, he'd be kicking field goals in TS as we speak.
