we wasted a good read option qb on 2 other guys who couldnt get it done with crowton's horseshite. sigh.

Russel couldn't hold lee or jjs jock strap playing qb. He would have been broken in half. A little note to add, guys like ware, nagee, randle had just as good of stats playing qb in hs. shite go look at voorhies stats, no one will complain when he's not playing qb.

Wasn't patrick peterson the tops at his position coming out of high school?

Definitely one of my top favorite Tigers. I remember not knowing who he was until high school All American game and he tore it up. And when he announced he was going to LSU, I was excited. Then watching him grow into the best CB in the nation was awesome.

I think he means consensus overall prospect, and even though Rivals has him at 3, there are enough recruiting services ranking him or referring to him as the best player overall, that I feel safe using "consensus" #1 player. Rivals seems to be the exception this year.

I don't think you can count Booty, as he chose baseball first and did not come directly to Lsu. I honestly can't think of an lsu recruit as widely regarded as the top player in the country regardless of position.
