and the parents ask "Why are you just now offering our son?", what the heck does the school say in response?

The truth. We missed on the kids higher on the board. The key is to keep them informed throughout the process. No point in lying when they already know the truth.

We didn't know just how stunning his mother was. And do you prefer hundreds or twenty dollar bills?

It sucks but as recruits must learn the recruitment game, Parents must learn what its about as well.

My high school coach said these things should not be emotional its business. He explained it this way.

If I have three steaks I'm only inviting three people to my party. I'm inviting my favorite 3 people to eat those steaks, but I just found out one my favorite people is a vegetarian. So one of the people that didn't make my favorite list can have the steak now .

Lmao

Sooner or later, someone will want that steak, hence National Signing Day.

LSU waited until Anthony "A Train" Thomas' senior year to recruit him despite him putting up 2,000 yd. rushing season his soph. and junior seasons. Michigan had been recruiting him all along so when LSU came calling it was too late. all he did was go on to break Michigan rushing records and was the NFL rookie of the year.

and we were left suffering with kevin faulk, cecil Collins and rondell mealey and transitioned to domanick davis and labrandon toefield

Faulk and Mealey graduated after Thomas' sophomore year. Collins played 4 games for LSU. Davis was a freshman at the start of Thomas' Jr. year and Toefield was a freshman at the start of Thomas' Sr. year. To use your logic, if anything we could have "transitioned" with Thomas his junior and senior seasons. So yeah, I'm greedy for wanting LSU to have a 1,000 yd. rusher every season.

I mean you cannot just offer everyone. There's a limited amount of spaces. It doesn't seem very difficult to understand to me... Happens all the time with job openings. Do you not take a job cause you were offered second? Hell no. You take it cause you wanted it. Who cares if you were second choice?

not bustin balls. I think Thomas got slow played because of the 96-97 depth chart.

besides, we got the better Thomas- Dunson

Let them know that you are being as up front as possible, where other schools may be willing to offer and take commits, but then process certain guys if ones higher up the board commit closer to signing day.

25 really limits what you can do. In the old days when you signed 50 or so you just offered everyone. Stovall was the 52nd Signee in his class and today he would not even get an offer.

Guess it's better than taking an early commit then telling the guy there's no room.

Or we could take all lower recruits on the board the first month and become Tennessee.

We hired a new offensive coordinator and he likes your skill set better than others in his new offense.

You absolutely offer everyone . You offer all the best players available and when the class is full it's full.

I'm guessing this is about Etienne. I have no idea why he wasn't offered sooner. Cam Akers be damned. LSU should have gotten Etienne, who I believe is much better than his ranking says, locked in early, and if Akers ever did want in, just add him in too. Minus this year, LSU has had at least 3 RBs average no less than 51 carries in the season since 2011. From 2011-2014, LSU had 4 RBs with no less than 62 carries.

I still see him coming here, and he is likely part of a 1-2 punch with Brossette in 2018 with Edwards-Helaire as the change of pace.

This is exactly the reason Mack Brown is announcing games on ESPN now, instead of coaching the Texas Longhorns.

Personally, I hate his TV voice and wish he was still coaching.

Etienne is just as good as Akers based on the film I've watched.
