Let me preface by saying this is not intended to be negative towards Berry at all. I can’t wait to have them both scoring touchdowns in a Tiger uniform.

I’m just curious what makes Berry a potential 5 star number 1 back in his class while Durham is ranked significantly lower in his class?

Both are lightning fast, while Durham has bit more well put together muscular frame.
Both have similar offer lists as well but
Durham played against much tougher high school competition.

Nothing but a star at this point. I’ll take the Texas competition over Harlems from a practical standpoint and this is no slight to Berry.

It's all based on upside and projections. Durham is severely underrated in my book.

Maybe size? 5-11 vs 5-9. Just a guess on my part.

The talent levels for that year coming out of HS may also be a part of it.

Wut?

He's rated as a five star nationally. Would he have a sixth star at Curtis?

Berry has generational burst / speed / size / power. Everyone who has been watching him since his freshman year can tell you.

1st time I saw his film I remembered high school Reggie Bush.

Durham is just as fast, but bigger.

It’s not really generational either way, tho.

Fournette was just as fast & weighed 40lbs more than Berry

We really need Berry and Simon to be our thunder and lightning. I'm excited of having Berry's skills, moves, vision and burst in the LSU backfield. He also has very good hands. The entire package. Caden is great also or Frank wouldn't have put all his effort into just him. Just enjoy them both.

He couldn’t be ranked any higher or have more offers. Not to mention he and his family value the education he is getting.

Plenty of room for both at LSU.

Berry is an elusive runner with great vision and home run speed . Durham has a low center of gravity with great balance and vision to go with home run speed.

winner, winner chicken dinner

comps:
Berry - Joe McKnight, Reggie Bush
Durham - LaDainian Tomlinson ... physical, immediately hits the hole, runs north/south.

FWIW - Curtis and Aug passed on Berry when the family visited both schools because Harlem didn't have any film and he had only played tackle football for 1 year (8th grade). Berry's father is a St. Aug alum.

Lol at generational. Stop it. Leonard was a generational college back. People throw around generational way too often.

Fournette wasn't clocking 4.37 40s. Fournette was crazy fast for his size and had crazy long speed, but Berry is Reggie Bush speed.

As for the OP. Big fish is small pond sometimes just look ridiculously different from everybody else to the point where you can't deny the talent even when comparing it against the competition. Adrian Peterson played against terrible competition, yet he was the #1 player in the country coming out of high school.
