The doubting of Bordelon is ridiculous...

Sorry, but these 'last name' and 'attractive to Arch Manning' explanations for why Bo Bordelon has been offered a scholarship are silly and becoming annoying to me.

Watching his Jr. tape - the kid is athletic and aggressive, routinely finishing blocks to the ground &/or reaching the 2nd level of the defense. He plays hard every play, you don't see him take plays off like others his age. His run-blocking appears to be ahead of his pass-pro, and he needs to work-on not leaning/reaching too much, but he's not a finished product at 16-17 years old (nor should he be).

Regarding his size - Bordelon measured 6'-4.5" and 269 lbs. at LSU's OL/DL camp during the first weekend in June. Scarborough's recent tweet suggested he's now at 280 lbs. I doubt he gained 11 pounds in just over a month (5-6 weeks), but I'd believe the kid probably weighs about 275 currently. That being the case, I can easily buy him arriving at LSU in that 285-290 pound range and from there, Moffitt will have Bordelon around 305 lbs. by his second season (which is the same weight his father played at even though he was an inch taller). Bottom line - after constantly reading about how our O-Lineman need to be in better condition, I prefer we go the route of slightly undersized O-Lineman that have to be beefed-up upon arriving on campus (instead of overweight guys that can't slim down).

Regarding his recent LSU camp performance - I watched the kid get beat several times in those 1-on-1 drills at the recent LSU camp, and I also watched Will Campbell get his arse whipped a handful of times in those very same drills (by Quency Wiggins). Point being, those drills aren't the end-all-be-all for evaluating O-Lineman as they are heavily tilted in favor of the D-Lineman who doesn't have any other responsibility besides rushing the passer and trying to sack a stationary QB. O-Lines work as a collective unit in real football, not as isolated 1-on-1 matchups on an island.

Other things I like about his game - similar to Max Johnson at the QB position, Bo grew up with a father that has an intimate knowledge of the position and how to play it. And according to his Newman HS coach, his father has worked with him religiously at playing on the O-Line. Because of this, Bo is a very sound technician and knows the 'tricks of the trade' that will help him along the way. Plus, I like that Bordelon has played a good bit of D-Line in HS, as it gives him that much better of an understanding of what the opponent's trying to accomplish.

Biggest adjustment in college - don't believe he's playing against the most elite competition at Newman, so I'm sure blocking SEC-caliber DTs/DEs will take some getting used too. However, I venture to guess that adjustment is quite a challenge for all O-Lineman.

CONCLUSION - Bordelon's a solid player that's earned a scholarship, and I would gladly bet that the kid ends up being a two (2) year contributor on the O-Line and finishes his LSU career with 18-22 starts (or, somewhere in that range - barring injury)

You’d rather go on his 2A tape against 5’10” 195 lb DEs at country day huh

I personally hope he reads it all, and it pisses him off. He played at 245 lbs last yr, and already up to 280? Work ethic isn't an issue, and sometimes that chip is what a player needs to become something. Let's see how he looks at 290 lbs for a season, and I'm sure the staff will assess whether he's a true take or not by sr yrs end.

We love to say we missed on a, b, c from Louisiana every year watching cfb games. But when you look back at the timestamp of who you'd have to pass to take that kid, most times the cfb player we wish we had, wasn't the same athlete in hs. Beauty of the sport, and kids develop at 18,19, 20 still into their frames.

This would be a win. Quality depth across the line is always a good thing.

One of, if not the hardest position to play in football.

Seems like other SEC head coaches are doubting him as well. His best scholarship offers outside LSU are Colorado and Virginia

I wonder how much of that is because other coaches knew he was an LSU lock?

His next best offer is ole miss and you can’t deny his lineage being a major factor in his recruitment but lineage was the reason we got Justin Jefferson and look how that turned out. He plays against 2A competition and hasn’t produced in camps it is what it is

Ain’t that the truth. So tired of hearing O say “so and so needs to get his weight down” or “he’s a slim 350 lbs”

Talent aside, it’s obvious that they could pay their way for at least a year and take a blue shirt. Alabama constantly does it and can take in massive classes to great benefit. LSU needs to take advantage and do the same. If the Bordelons want LSU to be as successful as possible, if asked, they should take the blue shirt.

When would you find out that a recruit is a gray shirt? Would it be after signing day?

The coaches would obviously know and could plan for an extra recruit/transfer. I guess that why we are always scratching our heads when Alabama signs 29 players every year.

He excepted his offer to LSU back in January, So I dont know if many other SEC programs would fight a legacy kid that excepted the offer a year ahead of time.

Also, i’m not saying this kid is a can’t miss five star prospect like Will Campbell, just that he is a quality lineman plenty good enough to earn an offer from LSU, and ultimately be a pretty significant contributor to the team.

Lastly, I don’t really understand why it matters what other SEC teams offer or do not offer. Every staff performs their own evaluation and determines what to do based on that

Love this comment "tell me how great Kardell is Lester?". Also if Bordelon should pay his own way because his folks can afford it, isn't Shaq's son on scholarship?

Well, if you think he's not capable then surely he's capable. You did after all think Odell Beckham thought he was better than he is coming into LSU. He only was a 1st round pick and broke NFL records.
