One of the recent articles I read (maybe on 247, maybe on Scout, don't remember) didn't really seem like he was leaning toward LSU at all. We were top 3, and he's seriously interested, but it didn't seem like he was pulling the trigger any time soon.

You can tell there's interest, but I look at situations like last year with Battle..after LSU offered, you could tell he fell in love with the school.

Not saying this is a bad thing at all, but Elam looked at LSU's offer as security, and once the others started coming in, well..you know. Once again, there's nothing wrong with that. I don't blame him one bit for wanting to play at Texas.

is the LSU offer even commitable? I guess I never thought it really was. I know y'all have Toliver and it seems all but certain Lewis will re-commit.

I think it's committable. We're recruiting a bunch of guys that are long and can cover but some may also end up being safties. We've thrown a few more offers out recently in Texas.

Does his name rhyme with money, or is it an alternate spelling of Ronnie?

we have toliver and lewis. paris last year guy. the depth chart looks really good at ut vs. LSU. elam is good but a bunch of guys could replace him. good he decides this early on. move on tigers to the next db.

FTR, this was on another free board and just figured I'd re-post here. I'm not sure if it's pay info.

Jimmy sure does like this kid

quote:

Roney Elam, CB, 6-2, 180, Newton HS, Newton, Texas

When the Tigers offered Elam in February, they were the first to do so. Well, things have certainly changed since then as Alabama, Baylor, Mississippi State, Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Tech have all followed suit. He is being recruited by LSU wide receiver coach Adam Henry, who also recruited and coached a couple of Elam's current high school coaches while he was on the staff at McNeese State. The relationship has been forged, and the Tigers are in the mix. As for what kind of player he may be, I haven't seen film of a corner other than LSU commitment Kevin Toliver in the 2015 class that can compares. By National Signing Day in 2015, Elam will be considered by everyone as one of the top defensive back prospects in the country. That is why LSU was eager to be the first one to throw their name in the hat.

A bunch of crystal ball picks were made for LSU recently, including a pick from Shea.
