Why all of the decommits and sudden interest in the LSU QB position? The impression two weeks ago was that it was hopeless and we would not land a decent QB in this great class.

Now, we seem to have several good options. What has changed?

We are loaded at the skill positions, and we're NFLU.

My guess is the one LSU was after got away so they re-tied new bacon and threw a bunch more nets in the water.

The only serious look at us is the 3 star from Rutgers.

Nah. The staff as been working on this since Franks decommitted. It looks like we will probably take 2 in this class and Narcisse for 2017.

They don't decommit and take an OV if not serious.

3* who made it to the elite 11 finals.. I'd say he's not half bad.

Don't get so caught up in the star ratings. As I understand it, it's a measure of the IMPACT a player can have on a program not necessarily their talent level. LSU doesn't need an impact QB, the just need someone who makes good decisions with the football and has to smarts to grasp the offense.

Well, first Franks, then Haskins (may have decided on tOSU now). Now, it appears to be wide open after the guys we have now - Jennings is likely transferring, Harris is your presumed starter for 2 more seasons (but does not look unbeatable).

SO, for 2016, we look to have Harris, Etling and McMillan, with walk-ons behind them. Even assuming McMillan develops into a serviceable SEC QB over the next year, Harris is a junior in 2016, and Etling has 2 to play 2 (unless I'm mistaken about that). Etling always felt like an insurance policy (like Bolden), rather than a legitimate option.

A single freshman QB coming in 2016 might see the 2018 and 2019 starting QB job at LSU as his to lose.

I hope you're right. I'm not optimistic at this point. And it is a shame - there are 2 "can't miss" QBs in this class, and the rest are all gambles or projects.

Patterson and Haskins are the "can't miss" QBs for 2016 - the hated Ole Miss Bears are getting one of them. I would certainly hate for USCw, tOSU, Bama or Florida to get the other.

Can't take two. Not enough room. Unless we're giving up a safety, CB, LB, OL, or DT.

We may not give up a CB. We may only get one more.
