Wire caught offensive line coach Jeff Grimes‘ attention for a bulk of the time on Saturday. At 6-foot-6 and 280 pounds, the 3-star lineman from nearby East Ascension (La.) High School wasn’t supposed to collect his offer from LSU until he reached 290 or 300 pounds. Grimes couldn’t wait, pulling the trigger last month during the NCAA’s evaluation period.

LSU made one notable offer to Class of 2020 defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson after the 6-foot-2, 260-pound tackle impressed the entire defensive coaching staff. LSU joins an early group of schools to offer Jackson along with Auburn, Ole Miss and Memphis, among others. Expect Jackson to return to Baton Rouge for more camps and a chance to compete against more elite competition, but thus far, he has shown that he is among the best at the position for his recruiting class.
