I realize people are stinging about the Collins deal, but think this one through. After all, Saban WAS our guy for 5 years, and he brought in some great classes and, what I'd like to think, most of us would agree to be some great kids along the way, right?

So...are you suggesting him merely being at BAMA has made the kids he brings in more likely to be assholes like him, or do you not think he brought in both good plays AND good kids here?

I'm sure we could all list a ton of quality players and guys that came into Baton Rouge while Saban was at the helm... That's to say that he hasn't adopted some of that entitlement mentality that permeates Tuscaloosa, just that it's going way overboard to suggest "What makes Saban a good recruiter for those kids is they are just like him."

Bama just took the #1 spot again on Rivals. If it finishes that way Bama will get 1st place 4 out of the last 5 years. Do you have any idea how hard that is to do?

Typical Gump response. Who really cares if you get 1 on recruiting. As long as a team recruits a top 10 class consistently then the talent is there to develop. Saban just oversigns more than anyone else. That's a fact.

And thus the types of players that are drawn to him. Look at most of these kids like Kirkpatrick, Maze and now Richardson with how they are shite talking. Look at all his players. They are mostly self-entitled pricks including Ingram when he was there. What makes Saban a good recruiter for those kids is they are just like him.
the comedy is strong with this one

And I have complete opposite interaction with him, he is cocky but that is expected. But he was nice and cordial in my talking with him.

Butthurt?

I never flame on here, but when I read pathetic comments from people like you, it makes it hard not to.

LSU will be fine without the kid. Try not to make your fan base look any worse.

Collins said playing for coach Saban and getting to the NFL because of it made it attractive. Sounds like that was the most important thing. That and the GF. Both are valid but selfish reasons when you compare them to the Miles approach of home and second father and degree.

So in that Respect......The kid Is more like $abun. Bottom line....the kid went for the process as oppose to the family approach.....he may get processed himself.

Miles best tact has been winning over families and teaching kids that LSU will be "home." He will be their "second dad" etc. It works... a lot. But occasionally, it won't.

this x1000000. Here's why:

Most posters on here agree family has a major influence in recruiting.

Miles does appear to appeal to parents more than a lot of coaches, particularly Saban. So it stands to reason to think that Miles has a better shot to get kids who are close to their parents, espect their parents, listen to their parents, and in general have a great relationship with their parents.

This is turn makes Miles more likely to land more quality individuals.

not saying Saban cant...

my 2 cents.

That what makes him the greatest recruiter ever. He's the biggest prick in the NCAA, but he gets these kids to keep lining up for him to abuse them.

That's your argument? Really? How much time does it take to be nice?

Nobody ever claimed Bobby Bowden was a prick. Nobody ever claimed John Wooden was a prick. They were just as busy and just as successful as Saban.

Half the people who interact with Saban claim he is a narcissistic prick. It's got nothing to do with the quality of his coaching skills (and rather or not they are inflated by certain members of the media). It simply says a lot about his character as a human being if he doesn't "have time" to be nice to people.

It's apparent that Landon was never coming here.

While we would have made room for him, we were not holding a scholarship up - I think it's going to be tight anyway - Mario Edwards is still a possibility and I feel better and better about Tracy Howard. If we get those two guys and Kwon Alexander, we'll forget about Collins relatively quickly (although it hurts he's going to a division rival - a double whammy, so-to-speak. I'm not having sour grapes, I would really have liked to have the kid on the team and it is bad to lose such a good in-state player.)

You win or lose because of the players you get - no the players you didn't get.
