He was a great talent evaluator and a great developer of talent. I don't know about recruiting.

Hopefully it was more chavis and cooper.

Yeah, I'm more focused on the talent evaluation at this point, which is a huge key. But guys like Peterson, Claiborne, and Mathieu are simply awesome athletes, so I'm not going to act like it took some incredible coach to have them playing well.

Well, Cooper was a lazy recruiter, no doubt. He made his living at camp evaluations. Maybe now we can get a guy who can coach and be a homerun recruiter too. We really need another great recruiter on the staff...

It seems like everything has been downhill since LC announced on national TV that he was Bama bound. There has not been one ounce of good news about LSU football since.

Jefferson is no longer the starting QB. However, at this rate I'm expecting the NCAA to grant him another year of eligibility.

Blessing in disguise if Chavis had a large part in our DB success

Any chance we grab someone with Texas ties?

What ever gave you that idea? Cooper's DBs were great when he coached at USCe too.

I would think we try to get back in Florida. We have Henry and McCaughney to cover Texas

I'd rather somebody with ties to Mississippi tbh. We could raid that state with distance as a selling point and keep Ole Piss/MSU weak. They're not heavy in talent like Florida/Texas but they're always top heavy like Louisiana.

No, I am not saying he is a bad coach. I am just saying he has been a lazy recruiter and if Chavis had a little bit to do with the success of our Cb's we will be more than fine.

Time to find an elite recruiter but I don't know who's out there this late in the year.

This was a shock. I don't think Les was expecting this but he needs to move quickly.

If it is a shock, which it probably is because I didn't see anything leaking about this, LSU isn't in a good situation. Les might be forced to make a quick hire to close the wound. You don't really lose coaches this late with spring less than two weeks away...

If Cooper fricked LSU, he can kiss my arse and never think about coaching here again. I don't care how awesome our DBs were.

If your looking for a coach from a particular region, I want a coach with ties to Mobile, AL. Close distance, lots of good talent and steals it away from our biggest rival.

I just think LSU should focus on Louisiana, East Texas and Miss more than anywhere else.

We have recruiting advantages by staying in this zones, mostly distance, which is huge in a recruiting angle. Not to mention what elite recruit in Miss wants to play for such shitty programs for so long? Their top 10 players in the state every year could easily play for our LSU team. They're top heavy like Louisiana every year. Per capita they're comparable to us in putting people in the NFL.

Was told two months ago he was gone. No tears were shed or counter offer made. Chavis has his man and we will be happy. Lazy recruiter and Chavis had more input than fans realize in coaching DBs

I actually was about to look him up because I do remember Florida having some recent success...

Not a fan of the Florida tie. Distance will be a factor. If its not in Texas, it needs to be in Mississippi or Alabama.

This wouldn't surprise me. I've heard Cooper and Chavis never got along. Any truth to that?

Anyways, any insight? Will he be a homerun type hire that everyone will get excited over...
