i think that he thinks it actually is helping the kids when it really isn't up to him to decide that.

guice only has 4 offers that he knows about...no way that should be correct for a top 100 player

Many coaches want to be able to tell the recruit about an offer personally and enjoy it with him. What is really needed are solid ground rules between the coaches and parents. The coaches do a lot of the notifying of recruiting coach about the prospect, like sending video, setting it, ect. In many cases he relieves the parent of burdens like these.
You have a point here, but I did not view it as a burden to send recruiters whatever they needed to evaluate my son. I didn't not want his fate in the hands of everyone else!

if oklahoma wants to offer guice then they will EASILY find a way to contact and offer him. the head coach would not be able to stop this by throwing a few pieces of mail in the trash. if guice goes to a camp and blows up (like merritt did) then he would get a ton of offers (like merritt did).

I don't have a clue if he does or not but I'm not on a recruiting board starting rumors that have no backing to them

Well i have to disagree, sometimes the coaches are the only ones that truly care about these kids. Some parents are looking for handouts or any why to solicit their child.

Look, People are people. Some good, some bad. Parents and coaches are no different. Some should never be parents and some should never be coaches. For the most part there are good people in the ranks of high school coaches. But some have personality issues just like any other normal person walking amongst us! They are not above wrong doing! I have no personal knowledge of anything that goes on at Catholic High School. But, I'm not quick to disregard that things can't happen in the program just because it's Catholic High and Coach Weiner! I don't know the man and I'm not saying he did these things. His current and former players are the best ones to speak on that!
