It is a requirement, yes. As a free publication, we have to generate revenue in ways that make dollars, not sense. Without it I may not be employed. That's the nature of our business now.

FWIW I do pay for a subscription to the actual printed newspaper and have for the last 15 years.
Maybe there can be a login for paid subscribers where we can just read the article online on one page without a slideshow?
I don't mind ads, but the slideshows are terrible and I don't read them online. If I click a headline and it's a slideshow, I'll hit the back button.
Also, the browser redirects to cheesy scam sites claiming I won a prize are not cool.
Sorry for the rant. I do financially support y'all and those are my thoughts on the online revenue model.

Damn bro that's a terrible sentence. These kids love being recruited and can easily make it stop. "Preys on" is a terrible choice of words. I'm literally embarrassed for you.
