I write for the newspaper in Stephenville, Texas and I usually just read the Rant and what not and don't comment, but I wanted to ask this....
The quarterback at the high school here is the no.1 or no.2 dual threat QB in the country depending on what site you look at. When I asked the kid if he had ever thought of LSU he said they hadn't even talked to him. I'm just wondering, but it kind of surprises me that a team who for some reason can't recruit a great QB wouldn't talk to every one of them they can. This kid is now committed to Texas Tech, which means you never know if he'll actually stay committed there with their record, but was looking for some insight as to why they wouldn't recruit one of the top qb's in the country when he's a state over.

The #1 guy in the country needs to "reach out" to us now? I had no idea our qb play was at the level where we don't even touch base with #1 recruits.

But, why would he be committed to T Tech? Something isn't right with this picture. Maybe there is more there and we aren't interested for a good reason.

He's been committed to Tech for a while. He's the biggest recruit Tech has ever gotten, is what I've read.

Anyway, I would have liked Brandon Winbush myself.

Who knows for sure, but QB recruiting is a whole different game. I'm sure if LSU thought they had any shot they would have made contact.

I hope you don't mind people knowing your identity, bro!

Did Jarrett give any inclination as to whether he would have been interested in LSU?

Looks like we don't want to scare off 2016 guys.

Sounds like a great reason, especially if Cam thinks they are more legit. Miles wouldn't know a good quarterback if Peyton Manning fell in his lap.

Franks and Patterson in 2016 are legit…both top 50 players in the nation. Franks has a kaepernick build to him…a different looking motion…more like a baseball player like kaep. Patterson just reminds me of Manziel. He's gutsy, athletic and just makes plays happen. I honestly don't believe we get both. Patterson would be more of a true dual threat, but Franks looks more like a Cameron qb to mold. They are both really good.

“First of all, Tech was the first school to ever recruit me when Tommy Mainord and Neal Brown were back there,” Stidham said to Red Raider Sports. “So that kind of holds a special place in my heart just because they were the first ones to put themselves out there for me.”

Looks like they have been on him for several years. Staff may have known this, and combined with other recruits in the pipeline and team needs, decided to concentrate their efforts elsewhere.

None that I know of. I've only talked to him a handful of times and never really in depth. I heard something that his girlfriend goes to Tech, but I also heard they broke up. No idea if there's any truth to that.

I heard Kliff told him he would turn him into Johnny 2.0 if he went there too, so I guess that is going to sound attractive to any kid, especially if he can start as a freshman.

Also, these are just things I hear through the grapevine in the town.

LSU should reach out to him, but there are a few logical reasons why they wouldnt really recruit him.

1 - they know he is that solid to KK and Tech.
2 - they think if he changes his pledge it will be Art over at Baylor due to his Stephenville ties.
3 - they have other guys in future classes they see as better options/fits for the LSU scheme.

Sometimes conserving ones efforts, time, and money of recruiting on more "getable" recuits is a better idea. I would love for us to at least talk with Stidham, because a phone call doesnt take much, but they also get paid a whole lot to do this for a living, so I tend to just shut up and listen with recruiting now.

If anybody were to flip Jarret, I would guess Briles made a move and pulled some hometown strings.

Thats what we all think, but then we find our selves with a few head scratchers that make us think twice about that line of logic haha
