Played a major role in helping LSU turn things around. He was nearly kicked off the team but managed to pull himself together and shock everyone at WR despite being recruited as a RB. Maybe he fits more of a surprise recruit than big recruit, but he made the biggest impact on LSUs rise to the top.

I defintitely understand Kevin Faulk and I agree.

But.

I just wonder about PP And here is my train of thought.

Miles pulled him out of Florida and he was the top player in the state that year. He essentially got 2 for 1 with Avery. Avery,if all indications are correct, will be the top player in Florida next year. Now Nacho names us number 1 and is just waiting on an offer. He's best friends (not teammates) with Avery. Nacho is probably top 10 in Florida and who knows what those two could achieve recruiting Florida over the next couple of years.

PP was the key that unlocked everything.

So we don't have the hindsight or the results that we have with Faulk but I think the potential could be there 3-5 years down the road.

Kevin Faulk! I think you can directly attribute at least ten years of good/great recruiting from 1995-2005 to Kevin Faulk's decision to attend LSU.

I said that after we landed him.

Faulk is certainly important for his role in helping restablish the fence around LA.

However, PP is the highest caliber guy we landed OOS and could be the beginning of developing more of a national recruiting base for LSU.

I am excited about Avery Johnson, but we still have to get through Two football seasons and keep him locked up.

As excited as I am, a lot of things can change over the next 17 months

I want to nominate RS. I know he is too recent to see the results of him choosing LSU. But I know that if it weren't for him, we never get Montgomery, and who knows who else. I also think he helped us with Loston. To me, he is just a really good leader that is one of those guys that does everything he can do to help those around him out. I sadly was a little too young to remember when Kevin Faulk was coming up. As far as the Patrick Peterson thing goes with his brother, I think he really let his brother make up his own mind and didnt' try and make him come to the school that he was attending.

It was a little larger than that though. Guys that were recruited while Faulk was still here (or shortly after) ended up being starters on the team that won the Sugar Bowl against Illinois, which was LSU's first step into elite status.

Some of those guys may not have ended up here if Faulk hadn't come and made it 'cool' again for Louisiana guys to stay home, and also because of the moderate success we enjoyed until Dinardo was too loyal to bad assistants.

If Patrick had stayed committed to Miami, Avery would not have been the first 2012 verbal and class leader.

And I know 17 year olds change their minds twice a day but when you listen to his interviews and listen to other people talking about him, and add in the fact that everyone knows Patrick won't even be here when he gets on campus, I don't think Avery is in any danger of changing his status.
