“I had always known that LSU was the first choice, so I committed within ten minutes of them offering. It was truly the best option for me because it was exactly what I was looking for, and no other school could beat it. It’s close to home, has great coaches and is one of the top softball programs in the country. It has the prettiest campus, the nicest facilities with great academics, and in the best location- it just cannot be anymore perfect, “said Shelby.

As we all know alot can happen during an athlete’s high school, or college year, but Wickersham is happy with her choice, and she figures to only get better during her four years of high school softball. She hasn’t played her first high school game “but is looking forward to being part of the team. Mount Carmel has many amazing athletes, and I am very blessed and humbled to play with them.”

Wickersham, who throws in the 63 miles per hour range, led her travel ball team to the USSSA 12-under championship and she was named the tournament MVP. She said that was one of the top highlights of her career and who knows what the future holds for this precious young pitcher who knows where she is headed and figures to have more highlights in her ever developing career. Only time will tell.

Also, LSU has a pitcher committed that is in the 8th grade from New Orleans who throws 67mph. Her first name is Taylor...heard there were 50 college coaches at one of her summer league games. Anyone have some more info on her?

I don't know, the last days of Zach Lee may have brought that out of someone.

Not sure on another girl named Taylor from that area. Generally, the travel softball circuit is pretty small, relatively speaking, and you'd hear about that. There was one girl I saw a couple years back in 12U who played for the voodoo out of NO who was bringing it back then. Could be her. I guess she was mid 50s then.

There is a girl from STA in 9th grade in the mid 60s or so with great movement. A sophomore from New Roads I think who is close to the same as a sophomore, and a 7th grader who lives out in Watson I think who can get in the low 60s, but still has a few control issues, as expected for a girl that age. Whether any of those would garner an LSU offer, I don't know. But just speaking to who stands out...

Can't be her since this was said "this precious young pitcher".

Just kidding, but for the author to call a player who was suspended for dirty play "precious" would be funny.

It may not be. I'll find out for sure today and report back. Apparently there are at least a couple folks who don't think it was, or at least didn't like what I had to say.

thats not the same girl, you are mistaken, as the incident you are speaking of
happened in a beaumont touney, as she was rounding 1rst base, ironically against the same team of the pitcher you mention from STA... that girl is from the NS area.

THE MCA girl(s)should I say bc there are 2, that play are 8th gdrs and i believe the 1 you are speaking of first name is Jordan.. (canes) and is the only girl that throws that hard-in this area....however, this Jeff W daughter ???? not sure about this girl....
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THE LANGUAGE ON HERE SOUNDS LIKE SHE HAS AN OFFER FROM LSU?? Is that accurate?

I am inquiring bc I hv not heard of this offer (which means nothing)or girl....and was interested

Good to know. I'll amend my prior post.

ETA, you are 100% correct. That jogged my memory. The name was Jordan that I was speaking about earlier. Sorry for the confusion and accusation. I am quite sure Shelby is a fine ball player of the utmost moral fiber.

Btw, is Shelby still playing for the canes? I'm not sure who she is. I remember the jordan girl, but not Shelby?

Shelby Wickersham and Jordan Perkins both play high school ball for MCA and they are Freshmen. Shelby and Jordan have been playing travel ball together for several years together with VooDoo, Hurricanes, and Deja Vu. I think Shelby is now moving on to the Patriots. Jordan and Shelby are both very good pitchers and probably throw in the mid 60s. Jordan also plays outfield and is an excellent hitter. I would not be surprised if LSU eventually offers Jordan at some point.

Torina basically told coaches that none of the girls coming up on the Northshore would be getting an offer from LSU if they haven't yet.
