thanks for the hard work...since you dug through all those can you point me to the one that answered my question about juco transfer rules for a player who previously qualified and attended an FBS institution? TIA

Every single one of them answers your question since ZM fits that criteria.

You're welcome.

For players that don't qualify out of high school, most often they must graduate from JUCO to be eligible at a D1 school (and some conferences, such as the SEC have more stringent rules). But since Mett qualified out of high school, he will have free transfer without having to graduate from the JUCO.

It's similar to what Mainieri does when recruiting JUCO baseball players, a lot of times he goes after guys that qualified out of high school but chose to go JUCO, because they can transfer to D1 after only one year at JUCO.

You're better than this, fore

I haven't really followed the details too closely, obviously, but I did really look on the first 2 pages, do a search and look at the Rivals and Scout player pages before I posted the questions. In general, though, my question was more about his timeline than 3 to play 3. I didn't know if he was on GA team for a year, or was an early enrollee, went through spring and then got the boot. I was pretty sure that he could enroll in spring, but wasn't sure about the JUCO transfer rules...hence this thread.

Hopefully all will accept my deepest apologies for causing such a massive disruption to everyone's day...I'll go do 5 "Hail Les'" and re-take the "Seaching on Tigerdroppings for Dummies" tutorial again.

Or you could just try google like every other person that has a question in 2010. I googled mettenberger eligibility and it took .08 seconds (according to google) to learn he has 3 years to play 3. You don't even have to click any of the multitude of links, it's right there in the summary.

I'm glad that's settled!!!!

Fore,

I'm afraid you've run afoul of the Recruiting Board etiquitte. They kind of consider themselves a "cut above" us Rantards. Forget for a moment that a message board is for sharing and exchanging information. I, too, am sometimes discouraged by people asking questions wihtout searching. However, this knee-jerk reaction "15 to 20" times over the past month. OMG. On the Rant questions can get asked 20 times in an hour. With relevant properly captioned threads about the subject all over Page 1.

Heck, I check the recruiting board at least 3 or 4 times a week, even in "off-peak" season, and this is the first I heard of "3 to play 3". I don't think you did anything wrong, but I'm not a regular over here and I already know what they think.

(It's easy to forget, sometimes, that we're all, ostensibly, on the same team)

ha, just take it to the face and laugh at yourself for asking. It is funny you got this kind of reaction from the most polite board on here though.
