Big fan of this young man and hopes it works out for LSU. Sorry for the dv. Gave you a few extra uv for my mistake. Looks like you only need 4 uv for a new blender.

Certainly hope that you are correct. If they pick UM and UGa it would show great maturity for this board not to bash the young men and their families with a 3 year old style tantrum. Life goes on. It's over 2 weeks past that other event and the sun still rises.

Les Miles is 60 years old? Man, time flies. Does he coach past 65?

That's about right - 65. Even averaging 9 wins a season, he passes Mac in total wins (137) sometime during the 2018 season. Miles sits at 95 wins, currently. It is possible it will happen during 2017. If we average 10 1/2 wins or better, it will happen in 2017. After he accomplishes that - I don't see him hanging around much longer. To get 200 wins (Okie State and LSU), he'd have to coach to almost 70, and I really don't think that is attractive to him.

He'll probably start having grandchildren about the time he passes Mac.

[quote]Malik (just got his 5* back!!) and Lorenzo and their families are very, very close to Miles, Haley, & Chavis. They are Mingo and Montgomery X 2 and the cornerstones with CG3 of LSU returning to the top defense in the nation. LSU is a co-leader for their services, even before their OVs. I expect to see them both in this class because they are selfless team players of the highest character and that is the overall character of this class. They and their families value the DE tradition at LSU of putting players in the NFL and both are very serious scholars, well rounded men, who want to play on a team with chemistry and they love the coaches.

I like your enthusiasm, but bringing in even one is a very long, long shot! Bringing in both would send this class over the top!!

It looks like he may cancel his LSU visit and visit Michigan State instead.

The defense could really use a few more players like this to strengthen the run defense.

He looks like he could play inside or outside, but if he's already 290, I'm thinking his long-term future is on the inside, or as a DE in a 3-4.

Apparently it has not been decided yet, but McDowell may swap his visit to either LSU or Ohio State for Michigan State.

Quid Pro Quo

Malik McDowell: Five Star, SDE

Quid pro quo means an exchange of goods or services, something given or received for something else...in this case their commitment for a shot at a NC and a place in the NFL like Mingo, Montgomery, and Edwards.

Malik (just got his 5* back!!) and Lorenzo and their families are very, very close to Miles, Haley, & Chavis. I have chronicled their recruiting and feel as optimistic as the coaches about landing them.

Because of their academic interests and their desire to play on the team "that puts DEs in the NFL", has a winning tradition, is SEC, and competes for NCs, I have always thought Miles and Co. will land them. If they do it will be like Michigan and Georgia lost LF7, so it is a huge coup, a remarkable recruiting achievement.

In light of recent events around here I'm predisposed to be suspicious of new posters raising expectations or claiming special insight.

After reading the posts about both recruits, I just feel like LSU has a better chance to sign Carter than McDowell--seems like the chances a very remote for the Tigers for McDowell.

Now it looks like it would be quite an accomplishment to get him here for a visit.

I am very happy with the work our coaches did with this quality class and expect to finish strong. We have the top player/RB in the nation, the top LB, #2&3 Safeties and a slew of top 10 position players.

First of all I want you to know that I respect your contributions and insights and I know you want to see us add to this really, really outstanding class with the best possible recruits at positions of greatest need. When the juvenile mental midgets went into meltdown mode over the 5for5 fiasco you were among the ones who saw we came away with the 2 best recruits. Losing a couple of immature, self-centered, "Terrell Owens" duplicitous personalities to questionable recruiting just opened the door to other recruits with better character, talent, true team players who want to play here, Adoree and Dupre, e.g. Losing Tony Brown was a shock, but after hearing about his shoulder and Olympics, (and father's doctor bills) I believe he may never play a game and risk 2 Olympics. At the least he is a tool for Saban to maybe finish first again in recruiting at all costs. With Saban firing half his coaches and hanging posters over every player's locker blaming everyone but himself for his two losses, the toxic environment has to suck. Can you imagine Miles doing something that negative...NO!. Saban was denied the fabled 3-peat for his stupidity, like Bryant was denied in '65 going undefeated by playing a soft schedule with an all white team.

I like your sig list beginning at #2.

Malik has 30 schools chasing him and he should have trimmed his list by now. I am not at all sold on the veracity or meaning of the report about LSU and MSU. Les was there just 2 days ago for an in-home. Les is a Michigan alum who played for Schembechler so he undoubtedly had a lot of rapport all along as did Haley. We are deep with SDEs and WDEs but we could not sack McCarron 7 times like OU. Until Miles says it's over or that SDEs Bower, Godchaux, and Herron & WDEs Rasco & hunter are more than we need to be able to provide the speed rush and sacks we are missing, I am still hoping for Lorenzo (1st) and Malik (2nd) to mesh with CG3 and help bring back a dominating defense. Otherwise lets expect to land the best of the remaining targets.

Checklist for a recruit: look for a program’s stability in a head coach; build a solid relationship with a position coach; ask about a program’s depth chart; and find out how he’ll be used in that program’s package. Kind of difficult in the SEC top programs this year with all the coaching changes...nod to LSU.

Malik just has too many schools at this point and he tends to be too nice and a bit indecisive with so many options. Lorenzo on the other hand is reported to be LSU, UGA, or FLA with UGA thinking he is an out of state lean like most Georgia top recruits this year. His visit supposedly went very well especially with the parents and the academic "engineering major" part.

Yes, hope we still get McDowell here for an OV. But this board will never know what happened in the Miles and Haley visits, only that the recruits, their coaches, and their parents are impressed.

I invite you to read my posts which are documentaries 'ad nauseum' entirely focused on the recruitment by Chavis, Haley, and Miles of these two ends: Lorenzo Carter and Malik McDowell, with the goal of having a 2011-12 Mingo/Montgomer/Edwards pass rush. I hated to see McCarron sacked only 10 times all season before OU sacked him 7 times with 2 INTs and a strip and score, and read over and over about how great he was when they have had such a soft schedule for 6 yrs. We keep losing record numbers of sophomores and juniors to the draft. The coaches are doing their jobs too well! We need to graduate some top players and believe it or not Fournette wants multiple degrees, and education is a priority for Malik and Lorenzo.

I claim no special insight but raising expectations by presenting summaries of hours of research on their interviews and videos and the recruits desire to go to LSU because we put defensive ends in the league and offer a winning tradition and quality education that they both seek, of that I am guilty.

your posts read as plausible, positive, and informed... but recently the board has been awash with people who turned out not to be who they pretended to be.

I would like very much for you to turn out to be who you seem to be at face value and for you to still be posting information that turns out to be mostly on target this time next year as well as a month from now.

we'll see and I'll keep my fingers crossed
