clearly Saban is a genius in that area. He will jump on a recruit just because LSU is recruiting him. Sure, they're highly rated but if it takes a playmaker away from a rival then it's good for Bama. If the guy ends up being a stud he'll play. If not, he's processed and kept him away from a rival. Bama gets who they want right now. It amazes me how families can't see through that kind of bullshite. Nobody plays the recruiting game tactically better than Saban.

This is how Bear did it also. He would get the other states best recruits just so they could not get them. He was the master for this.

Then LSU needs to get better at recruiting. They need more resources because the trend the past few years has been getting steadily worse for top state talent. If Les or LSU can't see it then they're blind. I don't care what anyone says on this board, it's going to start having immediate impacts on the program. Especially since we have a max exodus of talent that wants to leave to the NFL now as juniors. We'll be lucky to get anyone to stay their senior years unless they have no draft stock.

We'll be again in a rebuilding year. This time it will be on offense and defense is expected to progress. This year our defense was rebuilding. Can't keep losing players like Robinson, Williams, Devall, Collins, Hootie, Willis, Noil, etc. One or two guys? Sure. Several? It hurts. Those are impact players.

We can start by trimming the fat off our staff and getting better recruiters because we clearly need help.

Bama has plenty of elite talent that LSU wants

some, sure, but definitely not plenty…

I think we should spend more money on our budget and force teams like Bama to stay more defensive in their borders

they already intrinsically have to… they have in state rival Auburn and now an up and coming Florida State right in their back yard…

But yet it doesn't seem to prevent them from getting practically who they want and then coming into Louisiana and taking our top talent every year. The few times they've lost a recruiting battle on their borders they end up going somewhere else and getting someone just as good.

Anyone who doesn't think Saban tried to use Hootie or Collins against LSU's recruitment is ignorant. Hootie most likely did what he did so he could gain LSU interest and hopefully turn Adams away. LSU staff wasn't stupid enough to bite on it. Collins clearly tried to deflect his brother from us. It's a shitty and very dirty tactic but also smart.

JaMarcus is an outlier, as are a few others from Alabama. Louisiana produces much more talent annually.
It would feel good to sort of "Landon Collins" Bama though, right?

Now this I agree with. Time is an invaluable resource in regards to recruiting. Bama simply outworks everyone else, and it's because they have more boots on the ground than anyone else.

I'm pretty sure recruiting staffs are no longer limited to coaches and bama has the biggest recruiting staff in the nation.

They out-work because they out-spend & out-hire more than most other SEC teams. The amount of resources that 'Bama throws toward recruiting eclipses LSU.

To me it just stings to see year in and year out Bama grabbing some top guys out of our state. It would just be a nice 'eff you' to them to take some guys out of their state.

Yeah that's what I meant. You hire more recruiters, you get more time with recruits.

May be Coach Miles would offer me a recruiting position! I would be a mentor to these kids over here. Open up gyms and have football camps every week. lol

This seams what bama is doing. Getting highschool coaches within the program jobs at out of state fertle grounds.

again, all of this… all of it… is patently false… as far as hootie, why didn't Bama tell him to verbal to LSU, then on NSD sign with Bama? that would ensure we don't go after Adams, and be TRULY fricked… it didn't happen because recruiting doesn't work like all these conspiracy theories you are throwing out….

does shady shite happen… sure, but it's 9 out of 10 the player, not the school, that's behind it…

that's what winning national championships and sending guys to NFL in large quantities will do for you, bro!

it sucks, and it's frustrating to me too, but it's gonna take winning on the field to beat Bama at recruiting…

And you cant "Landon Collins" Bama. Theres so much competition in that state that there is not some insane expectation to keep every player from the state

Bama loses an instate player to LSU? Who cares, they lose out on instate guys all the time to Auburn/FSU etc etc.

This place would be a lot more sane if LSU fans accepted this reality as well. Theres competition for LA recruits and you cant get them all, if they dont want to come here, so be it. There will be talent to be had

"Bama loses an instate player to LSU? Who cares" All of us would care. If we took someone from them like a Landon Collins I guarantee you'd see a lot of BOOM talk..

Bama would be used to it. Instate players arent life or death to them.

They are life or death to the LSU coaches either, but the fans think they are
