6-2 233 # 14 rated MLB from VA. Had a good showing at the UA game. Not sure what our chances are here, but it looks like Maryland and ND are the two teams to beat.

My first thought also "oh no"...

recruiting goes on year round, we're under 1 month to go

late offer on ILB

yes, but only in the sense of timing or asking "where was this 2 months ago?". But both explainable and not that uncommon with OOS kids.

I don't think offering a 4* ILB who just, by the reports I saw, had an excellent showing at the UA game is desperate in of itself.

Some of these guys who are a little lower on the board get late committable offers if they have great senior seasons or big all-star game weeks. Also, as bigger programs need to fill spots, they will work down to them. Remember LSU and Ohio St both getting in on the QB Haskins last year? He was a Maryland commit, but got a lot of attention late and flipped.

This is par for the course. We are just used to LSU filling the ranks with LA kids, but this year, our DC doesn't seem high on any remaining local LBs.

Also, if Rice hadn't committed, some of these offers would have come a few weeks ago.

I live in Richmond too. I'll go talk to him and make sure he's coming.

That's the sense I meant it. I'm sure he's a good prospect. The "desperate" comment is more about a number of kids have been pursued recently that seem a like they're out of the blue or we're given up on earlier.

Again, they are just working down the board. Rice was higher for both us and UGA, and there are rumors that even Bama gave him a late look. The last two offers are to the next guys down the list, and now we have Gay, who was already offered, suddenly sounding very interested.

Desperation would be taking low ceiling instate 3 stars just to plug the holes. Keep looking for elite, if you strike out, load the 2018 class with elites.

Anyone remember a guy named Arden Key? Late addition that's paid off I'd say......Bottom line is you never know unless you offer

Arden Key and Oh yeah a guy named Jamal Adams who didn't get an offer from LSU until December after we struck out on an instate guy. We didn't know he was interested until we asked because we assumed he was headed to Florida.
