I disagree with the notion that we need to simply maximize what LSU is currently spending in recruiting expenditures in order to get a better result.
According to ESPN.com, our recruiting budget has REGRESSED. ESPN LINK Mr.SEC Recruiting Budget LINK
It appears to us almost only yearly basis that in-state talent slips through our hands. We've taken our own state for granted, and we have a false notion that the LSU brand has GOD-like power with in state recruits. Our coaches do a good job recruiting, but in all honesty, recruitment is just another area we are coming up second best to BAMA. Inherently, programs finding success should have a reflection though an annual budget increase. If a program or institution is falling short, that is when a budget cut is normally seen.
LSU can't keep squeezing and cutting the budget and expect the same or even better results. A drop of 148k in budget within one year cannot possibility bring a more positive result.
If you're losing the war, you don't spend less and hope that somehow you'll turn the war around and win. You match your opponent at the very least. And if you have a winner's mentality, you up the ante.
In this case, you match them even if your state happens to have more talent wealth. If you're behind, get out in front and lead.
We need a bigger budget, more staff, and more organization. I believe we are not effectively exploiting the advantages of our program. In example, LSU has currently 54 players in the NFL, LINK, and Alabama has 35, LINK
I'm a fan of exploiting how the fine state of Louisiana has a hugely successful NFL team, has a OC with direct and recent NFL connections. Brees and Cam are friends and Brees has mentioned several times he visits Cam. Sean Payton is an LSU fan and visits the program. Our connections should be hammered home in an obnoxious manner. Of course, keeping everything LEGAL.
Our program should continue to build. Our budgets should grow. And we should be pulling every resource available into the fold in order to sway these youngsters.
