Yeah many tight ends do switch once they are in college bur ,from looking at Smith's highlights, he is almost always flanked out and doesn't have his hand in the dirt. Hard to see him evolve into an oline/dline but if his frame just keeps developing then who knows

Vincent Taylor does not have an LSU offer.

He will.

I guess they are getting desperate after losing Golden and Manning.

Taylor likes LSU and A&M right now. LSU coaches told him to come camp in the summer for an offer.

I'm not a coach but I don't think it works to tell a kid from texas to come to camp this summer. too long from now and we know texas kids commit early. he won't be around come summer. ut or a&m or baylor will take him.

if staff doesn't like him enough to offer now, then don't offer but he probably won't be available by summer.

is it just me or does it seem like haley is the most stingy of the staff with making offers.

Vincent Taylor just isn't as good as a lot of the other DL we are after this year. He is also a DT/DE tweener.

If he does commit to Texas(don't think they will offer), he won't be that big of a loss.

well, good luck but I think its delusional to think we will get 3 dts better than taylor. not saying offer him. how good is the dt from denham springs we offered? is he as good as boutte (ol guy)?

We have offered Tevin Lawson from denham springs, I haven't seen any video on him and have no idea how good he is so i can't comment on that.

We are going after Justin Manning, the kid from Gadsen Alabama (Rod Crayton), will try to fight for Golden, and maybe we target some other instate guys.

well if we need 2-3 dts, then our list should be 7-10 long. your success rate oos is low so we need to go after a bunch of guys at dt to fill our needs.

I haven't seen anything on this board about georgia or florida guys. its as if we are all texas (at least at the moment). we need a more consistent recruiting. we hop around too much. we should have been in texas 2 years ago when we hired gonzo.

Smith is very pro LSU or a very good deceiver. Neither would suprise me. He has always said LSU is #1 including in the past month.

Let's hope this doesn't come down to NSD. I don't care if they go elsewhere if it's in their best interests and they decide sooner rather than later (aka Devall).

If Henry can land Smith, and RSJ, that's a good start for him. But even one of the two would be OK with me...but Texas is still smarting from DGB....

So is Smith going to Alabama is what im seeing from your first post? You can tell me know Im not gonna flip out

After watching the Collins saga play out on here and other places recently, there is no way I'm going to put my internet persona through that.

Spent the weekend in Lake Charles, and talked with some career football guys that played and coach collegiately. My brother played at McNeese, too. He was teammates with Henry and many of the friends I visited with Saturday night.

These guys recruit for a living. When they tell me a kid is enamored with Saban, I take notice. Signs are there, if you look for them. Obviously doesn't mean it's a done deal, but there was one who thinks it is, and he might be more likely to know than anyone outside the family, if such a thing can even exist a year out.

My only intent in bringing this up now, is to lessen the blow if it should happen. People need to realize losing a TE recruiting battle is probably less important to the success of LSU, than losing a FB one. No matter how much we wish things were different.

thanks man glad to know like I said I would like him at LSU but if chooses anywhere else its not gonna bother me. Alabama is a powerhouse right now and they are gonna be able to hand pick recruits this year for the most part. TE position like you said doesn't bother me not getting the top guy at much rather get the top recruits in the trenches and at qb. With our O who could really blame him Miles has work to do on the football field to convince these kids any different.
