Tiger Bait on James Miller

quote:
After receiving his LSU offer on March 7, Miller took a meaningful look at the program with a three-day visit, culminating with Junior Day on Saturday.
quote:
"I wanted to see everything that LSU had to offer," he told TigerBait.com. "I like the campus and I like the coaching staff."
quote:
As the Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High School prospect departed Baton Rouge, he made it clear that LSU made a strong impression on him.
quote:
"Right now, I don't have a top list or anything," Miller said. "But LSU is at the top right now."

A few comments from Parkway's Justin Rogers comments on watching LSU offensive practice
Rogers says that as of now TCU is his leader.
quote:
“You had to keep closing your eyes then wiping your eyes and shaking your head to make sure you were watching LSU,” said Rogers. “You’re so used to seeing LSU in the ‘I’, but it was three and four wide receivers all the time. You just said, ‘dang that is LSU’.”
quote:
“They were three and four wide on almost every play with a lot of motion and a lot of shifts to try and confuse the defense,” explained Rogers. “It was definitely a lot more different than anything has been in the past.
Rogers says that as of now TCU is his leader.

LSU Offers Jarren Williams

The Tigers’ coaching staff extended an offer to 3-star dual-threat quarterback Jarren Williams, a Kentucky commitment.

The 6-foot-2, 206-pounder from Central Gwinnett (Ga.) High School gave his verbal pledge to the Wildcats in June 2016, but has since seen his offer sheet blow up. He has landed marquee offers such as Tennessee and then LSU on Saturday

The Opening NO Top Performers
Top 5 Offense
1. Jamarr Chase, WR – He's a thick, physical receiver who was plenty fast enough in the testing portion and the guy just kept getting open. He kept making plays in front of and behind the defense. Chase, a recent Kansas decommit, is a stock-up type of talent who will likely become a priority for a lot of schools in the coming months.
2. Justin Rogers, QB – One of two quarterbacks to earn an invite to The Opening Finals, Rogers showcased a big-time arm, accuracy and outstanding anticipation and timing throughout the afternoon. TCU is considered the favorite at this point.
3. Colson Yankoff, QB – Though he didn't land an Elite 11 Finals invite yet, we sure were impressed with the tools he showcased. Yankoff is 6-foot-3.5, runs a 4.7 40, has a 38-inch vertical, a 4.1 shuttle and a huge arm. He didn't uncork it as much as he's capable of on Sunday but keep in mind, this is an Idaho native fresh off the basketball court that hasn't had a chance to throw much in recent weeks due to snowfall. He's one of the top quarterbacks in the country in our estimation.
4. Kwatrivous Johnson, OT – An absolutely massive offensive tackle that has already landed an offer from Mississippi State, this is the type of raw in-state talent that State coaches up and manages to get a lot out of. If Johnson can give consistent effort in pads, he showed that the raw ability – and size - is there in a big way.
5. Tyler Badie, RB – Give the kid credit. He came to the event as an unknown and took home the running back MVP award after having an effective day in all the drills and showing off the best speed in the entire camp. He was the only player to break 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, cruising to a 4.4 time.
Top 5 Defense
1. Micah Baskerville, LB – A recent LSU commit, Baskerville showed off a complete skillset at linebacker with the ability to make plays in space, get in throwing lanes and tackle running backs in cat and mouse drills. That's all good to see considering his best trait is his ability to strike in pads.
2. Darius Davis, CB – A personal favorite, Davis really flashed to me with his hips, his explosiveness out of his backpedal and his ability to find the football. TCU has already offered but we could see more coming despite his 5-10 frame.
3. Salua Masina, LB – Masina is the long, rangy, versatile linebacker that is a tough matchup in a camp setting. He's so athletic, has yet to fill out his frame and continues to get better every time we see him. Several West coast programs have offered the four-star.
4. Jordan Davis, DE – Probably the best defensive line prospect at the camp, you can't miss Davis in the registration line. He's a long, impressive looking kid that looks like we've come to expect these Alabama commits to look. It wasn't some undeniable, dominating showing for Davis but he flashed some unique edge athleticism and the frame is rare.
5. Eddie Smith, CB – This kid can break on a football. Smith is a bigger cornerback that can absolutely go get it when he puts his foot in the ground. He showed the ability to also capitalize on opportunities by snatching up multiple interceptions. Memphis, Oregon State and Louisiana Tech are among his offers.
Some youngsters that flashed
At the quarterback position, Grant Gunnell out of Texas is a huge kid that can rip it. A class of 2019 prospect, Gunnell emerged as the best underclassman at the position on the day.
A running back that impressed with his balance and explosiveness was Charvis Thornton out of the class of 2019. He already has a Colorado offer but he's got some juice to his game and could see more offers follow quickly.
Class of 2019 wide receiver Jordan Whittingham has flashed at events before but he caught the attention of coaches once again on Sunday. Jacobi Bellazin out of the class of 2020 was a new name however and despite his age, he may have been the best route-runner at the event.
While those guys popped at wide receiver, Oklahoma native Grayson Boomer was probably the best tight end in attendance as 2019 prospect.

In June, Moore was unable to make the trek from Yoakum, Texas, to Baton Rouge along with his brother, Texas A&M 4-star pledge Jordan Moore, because of an illness. He was en route to Tiger Stadium on Nov. 5 before inclement weather cut short a scheduled visit for LSU’s home game against Alabama.
“It went great,” Moore told SEC Country at Nike’s “The Opening” regional in New Orleans. “We didn’t go on tours or anything; we talked to the coaches the whole time. Coach (Mickey) Joseph, coach (Ed) Orgeron had lunch with my dad and my brother, and we chopped it up with them and it was nice to put a face to the name and spend time with them.

Only LSU and Florida State have offered the IMG Academy (Fla.) standout a scholarship to play both football and compete at track. No other schools embedded in Moore’s top 10 have done that.
quote:
“I grew up watching LSU, but I’m a track guy as well,” Moore explained. “I have the opportunity to run track there, and only them and Florida State are schools that have given me the opportunity. It’s something I’d love to look into doing. It’s a big part of my decision because I grew up as a track guy.”

Justin Rogers SEC Country
quote:
LSU, North Carolina and TCU have separated themselves in Rogers’ mind, with the in-state Tigers gaining serious momentum with less than three months until the 4-star dual-threat prospect plans to make a decision.
quote:
Sure, LSU had ground to make up after some blips on the radar involving communication with the coaching staff and wrong phone numbers, but offensive coordinator Matt Canada has quickly made amends. Both sides are in touch on a daily basis, but perhaps more importantly, his stamp on the new-look Tigers offense has left the state’s top quarterback especially intrigued.
quote:Rogers will be a close spectator again for the LSU spring game on April 22 and can envision himself playing in Canada’s system.
TCU holds a slight edge over LSU because he already has seen what the Horned Frogs can do on offense, but the Tigers made up ground rather quickly with what they displayed during Saturday’s scrimmage.
quote:
“That made a big impact because I’ve always thought that they’d just do the same thing,” he explained. “Seeing them throw it around with four wide receivers, with shifts and motions and everything, that was a big deal.

Thanks Capn'
Personally, I've gotten frustrated with quotes like this:
Frustrated because I shake my head over where was such feedback during the Miles era. Not at Miles, not anymore anyway. Did the people who report such things omit to retain access to LSU? That's what I assume. Aggravates me but at the same time makes me happy to see the current impact.
