Meanwhile, we are ranked 113th on ESPN
24/7 has some Bama love....

Dang Oregon with only 8 commits and ranked # 46 class.

I'm guessing you're mainly talking about 3* to 4*,
I can't speak for him, but I think Pocic is borderline 5, maybe someone else. but the real bump is in the points. IDK how rivals does it but in 247, the points are whats important, the stars are just a guide. Like a guy going from 90 to 94 or something would boost the ranking, even though he's a 4* player with both totals.

Lots of rank variation this year. If you are ranked anywhere from 1 to 12 youre good IMO.
if you think about it, it should be this way every year. there is no way these services can be that consistent in ranking hi-school jrs. i think they watch each other a lot and change rankings accordingly a lot.

Boutte is 5 star material. We are bringing in some serious o-line talent with this class, along with Pocic and Malone and Dodd.
Granted Malone and Dodd seem like projects, their potential ceiling seems pretty high.
If all 4 pan out we'd be able to transition from year to year with little drop-off in line depth and production for the next 3-4 years.

Does USC have the best recruiting class ever as far as stars go?
I've never seen anything like it since the beginning of the Rivals star ranking system!!! USC has an Avg Star rating of 4.17, unbelievable!! And even more incredible than that is they only have 2 players out the 18 commits that have a Rivals Rating of 5.8 so they have 16 out of 18 players with a 5.9 Rivals Rating or higher!!! 10 of the 18 commits have a Rivals Rating of 6.0 or higher. There has never been a class like this before so no one will top USC in recruiting for 2013.
Michigan is just benefitting from the Penn State and Ohio State horrors so they should be able to put some good classes together for the next couple of years!

A few years further back in 2007 they had averaged 4.22 stars. But again only 13/18 were 5.9 or higher and only 9/18 were 6.0 or higher. But they did have 6 5* that year which is pretty much unheard of.

USC signed like 6 or so 5 stars a few years ago. All that talent and 1 NC.

The Championship Game of 2004 was vacated. USC has zero BCS Crystal Footballs in their trophy case. None. But your point is correct: the Trojans are by far the greatest underachievers in college football. So it does them no good to sign the most hyped players -- they always do. It takes more than talent to win championships.

In 2002(I think) USC pulled in 8 five stars. They've always recruited lights out.

When USC has a decent coach it will always get
4-6 5* players. Remember they've won a bunch of National titles back in the day. I think legitimately the'ye won more than Bama and nearly as much as Notre Dame
