The state of Louisiana has proven over the years that they produce some of the best skill players in the country, but for some reason they can't consistently produce top tier OL. That has mystified me for years!

Louisiana is a hard working, blue collar state with guys working in the oil fields, chemical plants, the pipeline, shrimp boats and farming. It would seem with that kind of family background, Louisiana would be pumping out several massive, 4/5-star OL every year. I just don't get it!

Just how many people moved away after Katrina.

I have felt that the state was in a big man dearth ever since.

Our big men play D Line.

You’d think with the amount of gumbo we eat we would produce ever more big men in general.

Most of them stay in shape because they play other sports so they never put on the weight. And it’s always hot down here.

Our best big athletes play defensive line, go look at the four and five star defensive linemen Louisiana has produced. Thats mostly due to putting our best athletes at QB for the majority of the programs around the state. We just started progressing towards modern "air raid" offense last few years in this state. The o line will catch up just as the qbs and wr have started to...

It’s the difference in French and Spaniard blood in comparison to the German and Viking blood in the midwest.

I suppose that's too much to expect. Rudy Niswanger and Andrew Whitworth came out of high school at about the same time, but not that many since then with Division I potential.

I'm sure Katrina didn't help, but the numbers just don't add up. Every year we produce elite, skilled athletes, so it would seem like Louisiana would also have its fair share of talented OL.

Let's face it, Louisiana has some of the best food in the world with boudin, cracklins, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, beignets and red beans and rice, so producing big men should not be a problem! Huuummm... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! LOL!

Louisiana heat and lack of talent development have something to do with that in my opinion

Cody Ford starts/plays significantly for the Bills in his second year in the league.

He’s from Pineville and went to Oklahoma.

Was a second round draft pick.

Never offered by Miles.

Do you know the reason Miles didn't offer him?

No. Don’t know why LSU never offered.

TCU was the first Power 5 school offer and he committed real early. Then other big schools started offering and he opened his recruitment up. Oklahoma offered and he committed.

Trai Turner is a perennial pro bowler.

Lloyd cushenberry is an NFL starter as a rookie.

La’el collins is hurt now, but just signed a long term deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
