This guy is terrified to compete. I honestly don't want him because guess what? Unless he lights the world on fire when he gets to campus he's probably going to transfer. So, we'll again put all our eggs into the basket of a single guy who ends up leaving anyway. What do you think he's going to do when someone next year moves up past him on the roster? Seems like he wants the keys to the the kingdom without earning it.

I don't want him.

Save me the he's a great recruit blah blah we need a QB blah blah... I don't care.

He lost my respect when he said it's great to be a Gator.

I don't think you'd be laughing so much after realizing we'd have to face Eason for 3, possibly 4 years...

Hell with 'em.

What we *should* be doing is trying to find the overlooked dudes. We have the resources, just gotta do the research.

Get the guy who's "too short" but is a gamer (Drew Brees), or the guy who's getting overlooked at QB because big schools want him at other positions (Dak Prescott).

We've been getting the guys who are high school stars but are used to overwhelming HS peers with raw talent, and can't make the transition when they can't get by on that alone (Jefferson, Jennings, Harris). They don't have the *want* like someone who's been told they can't cut it.

Or, worst case...go out and roll the dice on a re-tread. Worked with Mett, and we could have Chad Kelly right now if we'd wanted him. We'd probably be unbeaten if we had.

It's amazing the logical leaps taken on here based on little to no information.

True.

Also tells him that Florida isn't confident in him. Just playing devil's advocate.

Sounds like our coaching staff is wasting a lot of time and resources going after SP and Franks when both are not coming here. yipee!

In recruiting, if there's a player you want - you NEVER give up & quit until the papers are signed & delivered. All you have to do to understand that is to follow Alabama's recruiting the last few years. Persistence pays.

Saw this a little while ago. I doubt it means much but thought I'd share.

Here's my thing with Franks, if you want to open your recruiting that's fine. Open it back up. Spend time determining where you want to go and then make your decision. Dropping us and immediately flipping to Florida after all the bitching about us recruiting other Quarterbacks, and then taking a visit from us just days after isn't something I care for. Seems like he just wants attention. I feel like if he comes here and doesn't start he'll transfer. We have QBs on our roster, we can deal with not getting him.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but why would we want him after he abandoned his commitment (albeit verbal one)? Will be funny as hell if Eason commits to UF though

Franks, a 4-star QB from Wakulla High School (Crawfordville, Fla.), was asked how he felt about Eason visiting Florida.

“Not good,” Franks told SEC Country.

Eason, who is ranked as the No. 2 pro-style quarterback in the country, is exploring all of his options now that UGA decided to fire Mark Richt. Reportedly, Eason, who has been committed to UGA since July 2014, has his commitment in “a holding pattern.” The 5-star is expected to arrive in Gainesville on Tuesday.

Franks is supposed to receive an in-home visit from LSU coach Les Miles and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on Tuesday as well. Franks was a long-time commit to LSU, and it’s clear that the Tigers feel like they can steal him back.

When asked if Franks is having second thoughts with his commitment to Florida, he chose to not answer the question.

“I don’t have any other comments on that,” he said.

Franks is rated as the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the country and will enroll at whichever school he chooses in January. Eason will also enroll at his school of choice in January.

I know Eason is the better prospect, but you just turned Franks after being committed to us for 18 months. Why would you do that?

He's probably using this as leverage to get UF to stop pursuing Eason like he made LSU stop pursuing Patterson. I don't like what this kid is doing at all. Where is his father to reel him in and show him how to be a man of his word?

What does this team need at the QB spot? A QB that is accurate and Etling is that. Has a strong arm, smart and accurate. Bingo!

And you know this how?

Etling (2014): 54.9% 6 TDs 5 Ints in the Big 10
Harris (2015): 53.1% 12TDs 5 Ints in SEC.

Please explain where you come up with strong arm, smart and accurate? Is that the default label for "pocket passers"? How do you know he is smart? There is not one scintilla evidence that factually supports your description. Are you making shite up because you want Etling to be the QB for LSU? Let me guess, you do not want "dual threat" QBs at LSU, right?

Purdue ended the 2015 season 2-10. Etling could not beat out the QB at Purdue. A team whose QBs in 2015 threw 18 TDs and 16 Ints and completed 57.5% of their passes. And whose starter over Etling in 2014 completed 52.9% of his passes for 10 TDs and 11 Ints. Mind you, when Harris was playing well before Alabama, Miles would shut down the passing once a lead was obtained. Despite the fact Harris was successful passing the ball in the first half.

You "we need a pocket passer" folk need to realize, it is not the QBs, its the lack of development of the QBs. Also Miles fear of the forward pass and resultant ultraconservative play calling, which stunts the development of his QBs.
