That's an important part of the equation for him and Maryland offers what the family considers a better academic situation for Scott.

While I get the Maryland is superior in academics argument. Here's my take :

He's wanting to play division one football, bottom line and end of story. Cam has been recruiting him for four months which is as long or longer than Maryland. LSU is far and away the better football school. Maryland may fit his "scheme" better but if he's as good an athlete and smart as appears, LSU offense will fit him very well.

Academically, if he wants to live in Louisiana and/or work after football, it will be more beneficial in my opinion to stay home.

If he's making an academic pick, then why not Harvard or other Ivy League school ?
If it's for football, LSU is at the highest level of college football and has opportunities after the game has passed

We slow played Scott made him our last choice. I want the kid to be a tiger but if he chooses to go else where I hope he has as much success as he would at LSU. I respect this kid whole lot and I hope he's a tiger.

maybe he wants to play for a power 5 school but one that still has good(or better than lsu's at least) academics.

Doesnt seem that hard to follow that logic if that is what he is thinking.

Exactly. Any objective observer should be able to admit that he has a much higher chance of getting playing time at Maryland and it's a better school than LSU.

But if he's a competitor ... Why not play football at the highest level in your hometown ?

This is a rare time in recent memory that people cant show any hard feelings for a recruit if he chooses not to play here. Clearly he was not our first choice so we can't expect the same for him. I do hope he comes here b/c I think he would def be entertaining to watch.

Our state should be more diversified and less dependent on oil. Not a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. Same thing goes when recruiting a QB.

How? Explain that one to me. Just because it is in the North ?????????
LSU is in the Tier 1 Level of universities and has many Top 20 or higher programs.
It also is one of the better research institutions on the planet.
Don't you think it would depend on what he wants to study ??
Also, LSU is in the upper echelon for mid-career salaries in the nation, and one of the top 2 or 3 in the SEC for mid-career salary growth.
