Miles said wide receiver Avery Johnson — the younger brother of one of the greatest LSU players ever in former cornerback/returner Patrick Peterson — and his brother are "genetically a very similar cut of men."

:notsureifserious:

I realize they're brothers, but PP7 just was a cut above just about all athletes in the world, and had a ton of Swag before he stepped on campus.

This is kinda setting fans up for dissappointment IMO

You don't want to start putting these two Bro's in the same sentence.

What should he say?
You will never measure up to your brother?

Not really. All indications are AJ is a amazing athlete too. His problem was he gets a little lazy sometimes. He has a few maturity problems but he will grow up fast here.

Who can be a physical freak like PP? Even with the same genetics?

I just don't think he should make any comparisons to his brother at this point.

You don't want to lead fans on who don't follow recruiting as closely to think he will be anything near his brother.

If he breaks out, then great. The bar will be almost unattainable if he says Avery is similar to PP7.

I guess the same could be said about all 5*recruits,Not. One is not set up to be a disappointment by a coach giving him a compliment. Unless fans do it to themselves.

Any sensible fan understands PP7 is a freak of nature.
A one in a million athlete.
I know I'm happy Avery is here and can't wait to see him play.

I'll be watching Avery not looking for a PP clone.

Yeah, because nobody ever compares brothers with each other...

Don't nitpick dude, this comparison is expected

idk i guess i've kind of gone cold on Avery.

I'm looking for Travin Dural to be the staple in this class.

Never know though, I guess Avery had a ton of offers for a reason.

His Senior year + his AA performance kind of left me scratching my head.

75% of fans in Tiger Stadium will not know they are brothers until his Sophomore year and Verne starts to relay the information every 6 minutes and 12 times a game.

Because I have a thought about how Avery projects vs. one of the greatest players in LSU history.

I don't see any problem with Miles comment. Avery should try to step up to the challenge of having as good of a career at LSU as PP7 did. No shame in not being as good as his brother if he busts his arse in the attempt.

I don't really have that much of a problem with it. Partly because he really only said that genetically they are pretty similar, which may not be all that big of a stretch and Miles was privy to an up close look at both guys at the age that Avery is now, so I'm sure he has pretty good insight as to how PP was physically at this age and now how has the same insight on AJ and his physical make up at this age.

The other reason I don't have much of a problem is, because, this time last year Coach Miles said "I don't want to say Mo Claiborne is faster than Patrick Peterson, but, Mo Claiborne may be faster than Patrick Peterson." Most, including myself thought that was borderline blasphemy based on what we had seen out of PP, and, relatively what little we had seen out of Mo Claiborne at the time, but, as it turned out Miles was pretty dead on in that statement.

So, I guess my point is, if Coach Miles feels confident enough to make a comparison of PP and AJ's genetic similarities, I'm not all that worried about it, and, it actually makes me feel a little bit better about AJ's Senior Year in HS and his AA Game performance.
