Cant really blame Miles for this. He wanted him to come to a camp, so he could see how Jones would do against better competition than 2A rKansas football. The kid never showed. There is only so much one can see on tape, especially for a Dlineman. They can get lost on tape. And footwork and proper technique is also hard to see on tape.

had to have had a reason for him not showing up to the camp...doesnt make sense for a kid who wants to go to lsu not to make a camp unless something came up...

He was at a family reunion in Washington, that was planned a year in advance, and LSU wasn't going to offer a 2A prospect without seeing him against competition,at camp. Probably a good rule, but

There is more to it than just the reunion (the underbelly of the recruiting world at work). He wanted to go to the camp.....and does want to be a Tiger. I think he could have the pen in his hand to sign with another school and if a LSU offer was phoned in he would sign with the Tigers. There are so many different rumors out there right now about who is in JC and who hasnt been. Most of it would be people speculating on things....or what they want to have happen. Until that kid signs a letter of intent I wouldnt count him as a lock for anyone. As much as the Razorback fans hate it they have to come to grips with the fact that Byran is a Tiger fan and will only go to Arkansas if LSU does not offer.

Don't we have two camps?

Yes,but the emphasis was on the second camp. Either way,if he wanted to get down to BR and show some interest,it would have helped him out. Now ,he looks like he's on the outs, esp if JC comes on board.

What is your opinion on Turner? He is 5'11 200lbs and runs track. He could play S. Might not be a bad package deal. I promise I would trade our Jr S Mike Slade for Turner right now, sight unseen.

Turner is a legit SEC type talent. Playing at a small town Arkansas school hurt him as far as being seen goes. This year he and another RB/DB from Junction City got noticed because of coaches coming to see Jones. For some reason Junction City's coach has a bad habit of not really helping his kids get noticed. He had Kevin Payne that went to ULM and as a Freshman had one of the better rushing totals against LSU in 03. He then moved to Safety has JR year and wound up getting drafted my the Bears and has been a starter most of the time the last 2 years. Payne only was noticed by the ULM staff (so I am told) because his father sent in a highlite tape on him.

I saw Turner a few years back when he was a soph play against Farmerville and he was a good looking talent then along with Jones. From what I am told he is a very good cover corner but with his frame would probably move to saftey and put on a little weight. Jones can take over games (I do realize it is AA football) but he can take over a game and make another team have come out of its regular offense just trying to stay away from him. He has been the State Title game MVP 2 years in a row. Plus this year they beat the eventual 3A state champion and from what I am told was the differnce in Junction City winning that game or losing by 21 points. Was in the other teams backfield all night long. I think he can play either side of the ball in the SEC and do it well. With his frame he would be a dang good center I think.

Watch this video in the state championship as a junior and tell me he's overrated. If you still think he's overrated after watching that, you're an idiot.

Also shows how good he would be on the OL when Les switches him.

I watched that video awhile ago (probably before you saw it or even knew who he was), and I think that he's overrated. I also think that you're new to this whole thing and that you haven't learned to base potential in relation to the competition that prospects are facing.

Go back and take another look at the linemen that he's going up against - I really do expect even more push from a 4-star prospect against linemen that size. In the SEC, I see zero push on a consistent bases without vast improvement in technique (he barely even bends his knees, for crying out loud). Jones is a prime example of a huge man dominating little competition through means of pure size and power. He "moves", if you can call them that, won't work against people that are bigger and know what they're doing.

By the way, you've pointed out that he's facing state championship competition in the video clip - I wonder how pathetic the competition was in his regular season, too.

All I said was that he's overrated, being a 4-star in the top 250 nationally, and that looks to be very true.

You can think I'm an idiot, and I'll know that you're naive and a dime a dozen.

I am not mad at Bryan Jones receiving an offer, should one be extended at all. In fact, I think at this point, it is a must. Get him Les and Brick.

this should have been done LONG ago...the coaches wait too long...similar to sentimore last year,he wanted to be a tiger...they kept putting him off and putting him off then when they decided they NEEDED him and went after him he said "up yours" and went to alabama.

Randy 44, size is not the issue --- Woods was over 300 pounds, Alexander over 300 pounds, and Nevis over 300 pounds. Speed, strength, and instincts are what counts.

Kyle Williams was barely over 300lbs and I would take 50 of him..i agree with you completely. speed, strength and instincts...by the way kyle made the pro bowl as alternate....dont know if hes gonna actually made it to miami.
