Why do we take a kid who has a questionable throwing motion over a local kid who has great throwing fundamentals?

We will regret not taking Oliver

You are not making the selections.

LSU just offered and got the commit of the guy they wanted.

He's 6 6". They have seen Oliver. They took Rivers and his motion.

People that think Rivers is better than Oliver:

LSU
Rivals
Scout
And Rivers offer list is much better

But yeah I'm sure you're right. You wouldn't know or care who he is if he wasn't from Louisiana.

I think you mean NU. As in Northwestern University.

For a QB, I'll take the one who can find the open receiver even under pressure. Great Fundamentals, Size, Speed, etc... is a far second quality behind decision making when it comes to QBs

Recruiting costs money and takes time. Do you think the staff would spend both of them on a kid they thought wasn't as good as a guy in town?

ETA: I realize LSU isn't short on money, but they don't have the time to be wasting.

Nothing beats all the Rantards that are QB experts now because they remember Buddy Songy talking about Josh Booty throwing off his back foot.

There is another thread with details about Rivers.

he can throw many types of balls, and he can run for the chains.

He is quite a nice pickup, actually.

Because they're taking a chance on a guy that might have a higher ceiling than Oliver. Oliver might develop into an average SEC QB one day, but Rivers might be a first round NFL draft pick one day if he receives good coaching and develops well like his brother did.
