I don't want to get killed for this, I know ed and steele has elevated our recruiting, but why not get harris (Arkansas commit),and Roach, and Moore into the fold now, and just recruit the other lb and if they come they come if not we still have 3 quality guys locked up.

Thornton and fowler are already on board..we need 3 more imo. Preferably a true mlb. If Beckwith leaves after this year, we are in trouble

because we don't have room for guys that we could always add in January if needed.

Gotta get Divinity, Joyner and at least one more. We are so thin next year....

Shooting for bigger fish right now.

Roach could fill the mlb and we still could go after bigger fish, and I want fowler just as much as anybody, but texas has his family on there side we need to protect ourselves. What's the latest on moore I know he is trying to get his grades in order

I'll try to give an honest (but very amateur) opinion:
- Some players appear to be really good. Many, if not all big programs will be after them. Some may actually be fans of other teams and not show the LSU coaches any interest if/when LSU contacts them. If they do show interest, the courting process may continue till signing day.
- Some players are good, but may not get a lot of recognition for any number of reasons. Coaches get a better chance o see these "diamonds in the rough" if they go to camp... if they do well against better known talents, they may earn an offer.
- Some players are good, but may be a better fit for a different system. For instance, Saban at Bama tends to like big linebackers. Chavis at LSU preferred smaller, faster LBs. While there is often overlap, LSU may pay less attention to very talented players if they don't think they're a good fit for the system.
- Some players appear to be very good, but the coaches might see something that makes them think the player might be overrated, or lacking in certain tangibles (like height) or intangibles (heart).
I don't know where Harris, Roach or Moore fit into this spectrum, so cannot speak to them individually.
Beyond identifying good fits for the program, recruiting is also often about long term relationships that are built by the coaching staff with the prospective players and their families. Again, I don't know about Harris, Moore or Roach. But if the LSU staff didn't start reaching out to them a year or more ago, then these guys may have solid relationships with the Arkansas coaches, or others, and it may be harder to overcome that than you and I know. Or it could just be that the LSU staff feels particularly good about its' current prospects, like Joyner, Divinity, Davis and a few others.
Bottom line, it's not necessarily as simple as "getting them" if LSU even wants them.

That's a good summation. You might also want to add "grades & character".
We've "missed" on a bunch of kids that never ended up playing elsewhere because of those issues (J. Jackson)

Which is silly because the moon is SOOOOOOOOOO much closer than any stars.

A very good analysis there of the LB recruiting situation.
I think the Tigers will sign a solid group--am hopeful that Divinity will decide to wear purple & gold in college, even if it is not until NSD or a few days before, or at a January All-Star game.
There may be other names, especially of out-of-state LB recruits that will surface later that maybe have not yet been mentioned very much.

We already have Thornton, Fowler and Anthony. We don't have many spots and you are crazy if you think we'll lock up lesser guys when we have a chance for guys like Divinity and Joyner. Plus, we still need DL help and we have 2 more in the secondary we are holding spots for.

Yes, limited spots and a lot of "big fish" remain. Yes LSU needs LBs and DLs and we have 5+ months till signing day. Apparently a few people seem to think our current commits are decent.
