We have no DE depth. We should have been recruiting better. We always end up 2nd place

you stay melting
LSU is fine at DE

We don't have much talent at DE.

You stay delusional. We are fine at DE yet they did nothing this year

Why do you say that? Because they didn't beat out a senior and junior? Damn you are dumb

16 should be a big year for DL,obviously.

I don't know about that. He's on a few 14/Mock Drafts in Top2 Rds.
Phillips commit looked pretty firm to UT and I wouldn't blame him for staying home. However, he has the size to play very early at LSU and that situation only gets better if Hunter leaves. He looks like Miles G from last year and I wouldn't be surprised to see a big jump on all ranking lists.
Not sure if he can be flipped but he should be priority 1. We have his buddy and I believe that they are both EE's. We have a few days (tops) to try to flip that kid. He has a better opportunity at LSU as our 2 starters are probably gone and he has the size right now. Probably a starter by mid-season at LSU.

We have plenty of DE depth
Not so sure about that. Name the ones that are on par with Phillps? He looks like an early starter.

Herron has outgrown that speed rusher mold and any of your first 5 would have made a bigger impact this year if they had elite ability. Teuhma showed something in one game against a lesser opponent but not so much once we hit the SEC schedule.

They weren't playing over hunter and rasco no matter what. You know how Chavis works. Hell it took how long to convince him to bench welter?
Fact is that we don't know what we have with these young guys unless you see them practice every day.
Players on the team have told me they have plenty of talent. Bower, Clark and teuhema specifically.
Eta: and it looks like hunter is coming back next year

And I doubt any of our main rivals ever say...we are fine at any position. Us getting an elite player means that our rival doesn't have him. Also, DE is a position where you can easily rotate 4+ guys and turn them lose. This is why Miles G. can be managed...aTm doesn't have the depth behind him to give him a rest. We saw it this year when he was begging to come out of a game and they didn't take him out. Speed rushers are not as effective when they have to play the entire game. Why do you think that it's become a specialty role in the NFL? And one of the highest paid positions on defense.
Elite DE's make negative plays which put teams in 3rd and Chavis situations.

It will be interesting to see how our current DEs respond to a different system, especially one that plays more aggressive. You guys need to remember that, when you play a straight up system like Chavis does with few stunts and blitzes, you have to have to have guys who can do it all on there own at the ends. Those players don't exactly grow on trees.
Put the same players in a system with more stunts, misdirection, blitzing, and disguised looks, and players who aren't quite on that level have a much better opportunity to excel. They aren't having to create EVERYTHING on their own. The scheme generates more opportunities for them.
I'm expecting to see a couple of these guys we have respond, especially if we end up with a scheme like CP runs.
