Here's what we will have at wr after next year.
randle, c. tolliver, RS (part-time), davis, hunter. all of these guys were ranked in the top 50 by at least 1 recruiting service. this is enough to win a NC with. look at this year. we only have 2 receivers with over 10 catches in 8 games. thus, only 2 guys average over 1 catch per game.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO GET 7 OR 8 TOP 100 WRs.
we didn't get dez bryant, deAngelo brown or benton.

Do you realize that Reed is a SR. and Landry is a JR.??? IF they are equal NOW, don't you think by the time Landry is a SR. that he will be MUCH better than TR? Not knocking Reed, just saying.

I'd personally like RS to be there fulltime, and we have no idea what C Tolliver can do. The rest are true freshman. But yeah, Randle should be awesome, and T Toliver is very good too. We just need a third guy for the slot, and that's why I say that Shep would be perfect.

Couldn't the same argument be used against your point being that you are from Reed's hometown?

That is my point as well. Reed is a top notch player, it's not his fault that Landry is a freak.

I like RS to be flexible if we don't get LS. play some wr, some tailback, some wildcat. my concern is that we are loading up the absolute best talent on the team at wr (randle, RS, then Landry). it seems as though we would not be able to "full utilize" all three at wr "a couple of years down the road"

RS has a lot to prove as a RB IMO. Like that he won't get flipped over bc he doesn't run with enough power. I still think he has more of a WR body.

I hope we get Lache so that we have him, Ridley, and Ford to tote the rock from there.

Randle could easily be a 3 and out player, and we often play 4 WR sets anyway. Landry is a whole year away and hasn't even committed.

I call bullshite! Perhaps you've never paid for TSD or TBait, but after the army All-American junior combine last year, there was a general consensus that he was one of the best in the country.

It was also assumed that he was an LSU lock and therefor OK that we lost out on Debose. He was supposed to be a similar player.

I don't care enough to find links but I can guarantee you I didn't imagine the Reed lust.

Token conservative blathering nonsense from his bully pulpit. I think "bashing" is exactly what was intended.

for a while people thought he deserved a 5th star but he has been plummeting like a rock ever since.

he isn't and hasn't been considered THAT highly ranked for a long time - it has nothing to do with his likely commitment to auburn

If anything Landry looks bigger, faster, more agile, and all around just more athletic. Reed is a great player. But Landry is unreal.

Put it this way.. in the 2008 class.. where would Reed be ranked in-state? Where would Landry be ranked? That should pretty much /thread this.

Guarantee if you weren't from Thibodaux you would see things differently.

Supposed to be being the keyword in that statement. He hasn't made a big enough splash his Senior year to warrant Debose like attention.

that's why I said before in a different thread that most LSU fans realize he is still a very talented WR, just not the truly special player he looked like he was on track toward being last year. He looks more like the very common 5'10"-6', 175-185 lb athletic kid that every southern state has tons of.

No matter how mediocre his senior season has been, I still have to think that losing top in-state talent yet again stings a bit. Do we need him? Probably not, but it sucks to see this type of talent leave the state.
Also, I know this is the wrong thread for this, but I was just looking at rivals for info on "Freak" Johnson... Any chance we change his mind? Tigerbait seems to think so..

I don't recall him being a must get in the first place. I want him at LSU but people def are not bashing him.

Personally don't think there will be much of a difference between the two at the next level, unless Landry grows more. Similar size and style. Both would make good pickups, would love to have either or both.
