solid contributor/starter on the defensive side Of the ball from any where north of Georgia? From a recruiting standpoint I just can’t recall one that has worked out here yet. I know this is a different approach and yes I know there are great athletes everywhere. Clifton Garret, Toles, Sampah, Hampton come to mind recently.

I see the point you’re making, but just because LSU has had some northern players not work out doesn’t mean there aren’t good players there.

Jacoby Stevens and the LB from Nashville whose name escapes me

DE from Jersey too (having a bad name day, baws. Getting old)

ETA
Jacob Philips and Tashawn Bower is who I was referring to. And though I mentioned 2 TN/ SEC area kids, TN ain’t always the best with talent. Bower probably best fits what you were asking for.

Not making a point at all, was just asking the question because I really couldn’t think of anyone. Ohio state, Penn st, Michigan schools kill it with NFL caliber defensive guys. It’s just a completely different strategy that I honestly think is necessary and brilliant right now with Sec recruiting landscape.

Ali Gaye may be one, his numbers in the games he has appeared in have been solid, I would say. Maybe not spectacular but solid.

Jacoby was originally from the Crowley La area. I’m not sure when he left the state but he was basically a Louisiana kid.

I agree. Will these guys stick around for signing day? Where are the Louisiana boys? They seem to be going out of state.
