John Stephens was a running back at Northwestern State in the 80s. Went to the Pro Bowl as a rookie for the Patriots, and had a six-year NFL career. He died in 2009 after a car wreck.

He had a son with a pretty good track athlete.

The son, featured in a Shreveport Times article, is playing DE and wide receiver for Logansport High. LINK

The article says he went from a 5-foot-6, 140-pound freshman to a 6-4 ½, 210-pound junior with a 7-foot wing span.

His mom sounds like a class act who is raising him right.

He loves shrimp etouffee and gumbo, so maybe Coach O has a leg up.

That is a good story,BUT he will be facing the mighty KENTWOOD KANGAROOS Friday nite, and he will see WILLIE PALMER who is a legit 6'3 very very athletic and tremendously physical. This will be a great match up friday nite in Logansport.Willie Palmer have a LSU offer class of 2019,and yes Mr.Palmer is a soph.but plays like a senior,i promise Logansport got there hands full come Friday.

Blocked for his Dad all four years at NSU. The best athlete I have ever seen. If he wanted to, he could have been one of the all time greats. His "want to" was lacking.

Sure, Willie is good but he's about the only thing Kentwood has. Roos finna get their lunch money stolen by Logansport. JSjr is the truth.

Was this necessary to point out? Some people just can't help themselves.

Logansport pulled off the win.

Another kid mentioned in the game article may deserve a look.

What also took a lot out of the Kangaroos who took big hit after big hit by Nakendric Peterson and crew. At least a half-dozen Kentwood players were left on the artificial turf after the senior middle linebacker’s hits. Not a pretty sight.

I played against senior in HS, I weighed 140. He blew a fortune in a couple of years, went to jail for not paying child support and was driving a log truck before he died. He was LF before LF

Really? Well buddy he made it to the freaking NFL! If he didn't have the want to he would have been back in Springhill bagging groceries. What a joke. But I guess he probably took your lunch money once upon a time. You make to the bigs?
