Are the Tigers' coaching staff showing a little despiration or is it part of their recruiting strategy to offer Bona-fide 4-star athletes with scholarships, although they had suffered a serious injury during their Jr. year of H.S. school football?

Thus far, the Tigers have offered 3 scholarships to A. Taylor - RB, H. Rettig - QB, and K. Parker -WR. They all had serious injuries. It is like saying...we cannot attract anyone at those positions who are more talented than they are without an injury. I am aware that USC had their eyes on Rettig, but since his injury they backed off. Even UCLA recruited a QB out of GA, instead of the kid in their backyard. It is something to think about...

If they are doing just that for sure, it is definitely a gamble. Not many schools offer that many guys with serious injuries a scholarship (maybe 1 or 2 is the exception), but 3 is pushing towards 4, etc.

Yea because it's not like we have a camp or anything so the coaches can see how these guys move around

The QB recruit, Coach Kragthorpe flew out to Cali and watched the kid peform and was offered.

Krag was highly impressed...

The scouts say if the kid has a big senior year, he will be a top 5 QB Nationally....

they say his upside is way high

Seems to be a very good pick up...

Trust the coaches who live and breathe football and see the kids up close

And we didn't accept Taylor's commitment fwiw, plus the Parker kid is coming to camp next week so coach Henry will further evaluate him

For those Tigers Fans that replied like professionals...Thanks for your opinions.

RollTigersRoll you are working very hard for attention. The last two words in your post pretty much summed up what kind of person you are in general.

Enjoy,

Are you mad the Saints signed Drew Brees? Surely the Saints had to take an guy that had a major injury because they couldnt attract or sign a top free agent.

At any rate Rettig was a guy who wanted to leave the state and play for a team who had a real shot a playing for a national title. Thats why he chose LSU, to win championships. From all accounts Rettig has completely healed 100% from his injury and has looked stronger than ever. Even the national guys that have see him recently say that he an absolute steal for LSU.

As for the rest of the guys like others have said they are wait and see guys, who are great talents but replaceable bc they are RBs or WRs.

You dont have the numbers of quality guys at QB so sometimes a guy is worth a chance. If Rettig can be as good as everyone is saying then its worth it. Kragthorpe has seen him post injury and has felt confident enough to offer so thats all we need to know.

I understand your concern. Like another poster said though...injuries heal. Think about Kwon Alexander's ACL injury. He is making a full recovery and might be better than ever. Though sometimes guys are just never the same. That's why our coaches wanna take some looks at them first.

Yeah, like the Poxxx said, these knee injuries are not like they once were. It used to be devastating because the medical technology and expertise was not very good and a lot of ACL tears were career ending. Now though, medical science has nearly mastered the ACL rebuild and you almost always hear about those injuries coming back 100%. Your post is not at all stupid. Don't listen to all those losers with the hater mentality. You will get that a lot here. We've got a great bunch of assistant coaches who are great recruiters. We just have to trust em.

I don't have a problem with your post except this:
quote:

Are the Tigers' coaching staff showing a little despiration

That right there shows your intent.

If you want your posts to be taken seriously stop being a douche.

LSU is the tpye of program that doesn't need 17 year olds to play like All Americans . We have depth, and can afford kids to RS.
